Hydra Open Air Cinema UAE 2008, the ultimate open air movie experience that has been the most awaited event of its kind in the UAE for the past few weeks, is finally a reality. The twenty four night extravaganza kicked off in style last night at Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah with the screening of the latest James Bond blockbuster The Quantum Of Solace, and left over two thousand people spellbound.
 
The 4,000 square feet screen, boosted by 32 speaker digital surround sound, was up under the starlit Dubai sky, and lived up to its promise of being a cinematic experience unlike anything the region has ever seen. A host of VIPs and dignitaries, including the Swiss Consul General to Dubai Mr. Gerhard Brugger, his German counterpart Mr. Johann-Adolf Cohausz and Mr. Abdulhamid Juma, Chairman of the Dubai International Film Festival, added to the glamour of the opening night. The special invitees, and those lucky enough to get their hands on a ticket for the opening night, got much more than they expected at the event, which was filled with fun, food and festivities that turned the atmosphere into one resembling a veritable cine-carnival. The food festival, which was catered to by Madinat Jumeirah, ensured that viewers had a five star feast to go along with the spicy action on screen. The corporate hospitality chalets, with every conceivable luxury amenity needed to enhance the experience, were also packed to capacity.
 
“The opening night is an important indicator of how well the people of the UAE have embraced this concept, and I must say that the response has exceeded even our wildest expectations” said Mr. Farzin Samadian, the CEO of Swiss OpenAir Concept, the Switzerland-based global entertainment giant who are responsible for making this extravaganza happen in conjunction with event sponsors Hydra Properties. “Part of our promise was to have something for everyone, and we wish to announce that we will be screening the Bollywood hit Tashan on the fourth night of the show as part of our Indian night, while we have the classic Mongol tomorrow for the Russian community” he added. 
 
Hydra Open Air Cinema UAE 2008 which is supported by Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) and the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH ), will take place from November 10^th to the 21^st in Madinat Jumeirah Dubai and from the 1^st to the 12^th of December at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. With 23 more star-studded nights to go, it seems like this is one movie experience that will be something remembered for a long time to come.
