|
Energy Management Solutions (EMS), the first company in the Middle East to provide energy management solutions, today announced it will facilitate real estate developers Connection Real Estate achieve the coveted platinum green building rating in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
Providing services to Connection Real Estate’s ‘Connection Towers’, a commercial and residential project in the Danet Abu Dhabi development, EMS will guide and coordinate the LEED certification process by evaluating the site’s sustainability, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, construction materials and resources, while assessing the project’s indoor environmental quality. In addition, EMS has been contracted to perform an analysis of the project’s utility requirements and an Energy Valuation Analysis (EVA).
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, developed by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), provides a suite of standards for environmentally sustainable construction.
Khaled Bushnaq, Chief Executive Officer of EMS, said: “Green buildings offer a win-win situation for both the developer and the end user. Its long term savings will serve to prove that sustainability definitely makes good business sense. We will focus all our efforts to help Danet Abu Dhabi achieve the LEED Platinum certification.
“Among the criteria we will assess at the Connection Towers development is the percentage of clean and renewable energy, and the reduction in utility overheads. We will also examine its programme for recycling, and initiatives to provide improved acoustics and landscaping.”
Fadi A. Qassim, Projects Manager of Connection Real Estate, said: “Connection Real Estate is fully committed to employing responsible building measures. We fully understand the significance of our development, and aim to set a benchmark in viable green buildings. We will leverage the solutions offered by EMS to gain the Platinum LEED certification, as we aim to not only mitigate negative environmental impacts but also reduce utility costs.”
Established in 1991, as the first company to provide energy management solutions (ESCO) in the Middle East, Energy Management Services International (EMS) has continually expanded and led the region in defining, promoting and implementing sustainability projects and energy efficiency solutions.
Coordinating the acquisition and installation of energy infrastructure and technology, EMS has widened its role through supplying reliable and cost-competitive energy commodities and services to the residential, leisure, and institutional sectors.
