BinHendi Enterprises extends lifeline to Thalassaemia patients
|
BinHendi Enterprises is spearheading a blood donation campaign in aid of children suffering from Thalassaemia on Tuesday July 1st, from 9:00a.m to 2:30p.m at Al Reem Tower on Maktoum Street, in Deira, Dubai.
Blood transfusion is critical to the survival of Thalassaemic patients, whose ability to produce haemoglobin is seriously impaired because of the disease, thus resulting in anaemia. A blood transfusion is required every two to three weeks, underscoring the need for a constant supply of blood.
“BinHendi Enterprises has a strong community relations programme. Given the urgency of the need, we thought we could extend a lifeline to many people suffering from the disease by organizing this blood donation drive,” said Sherin Elsherbiny, PR and Event Manager of BinHendi Enterprises.
According to the ministry of Health of the United Arab Emirates, one in twelve UAE national suffers from the disease. “In undertaking this campaign, employees at BinHendi Enterprises expressed their eagerness to participate to at least be able to return something to the UAE community which has openly welcomed them and provided opportunities for a better life,” Sherin ElSherbiny added.
In addition to Thalassaemia, other patients requiring blood transfusions in many hospitals in the UAE will also benefit from the campaign, including people with leukaemia and others suffering from severe bleeding.
