Dubai Maritime City showcases state-of-the-art facilities dedicated to oil and gas sector at international exhibition
|
Dubai Maritime City, the world’s first purpose-built maritime centre and a member of the Dubai World Group of companies, has successfully participated in the Asian Oil & Gas Show (AOGS) 2008 held recently in South Korea, wherein the first-of-its-kind maritime complex drew overwhelming support for its key role in setting new benchmarks for the maritime industry. Dubai Maritime City focused its exhibition on its state-of-the-art facilities and technologies dedicated to the oil and gas industry, particularly on transport and ship building infrastructure.
Dubai Maritime City likewise conducted a detailed presentation of the unique features of the Maritime Centre, the business capital of Dubai Maritime City. The high-profile exhibition of the Maritime Centre at AOGS 2008 served as a significant follow-up to its highly successful global launching during the opening day of Posidonia, the world’s biggest maritime industry event held in Athens, Greece, wherein nearly 20,000 visitors, exhibitors and journalists from more than 80 countries were present.
“The response we have gathered at the Asian Oil & Gas Show 2008 was tremendously overwhelming. The event was particularly important for us because of Dubai Maritime CityCs crucial role in the oil and gas transport segment, which is naturally a very critical component to the regional economy. The event served as an excellent opportunity to showcase our plans for the oil and gas sector along with the key facilities that have been incorporated into the project specifically for this vital industry," said Ahmed Bin Hareb, manager of sales and special projects, Dubai Maritime City.
Dubai Maritime City, a 227-hectare man-made peninsula, is now in its third and final phase of development. The Maritime Centre is one of six clusters developed within Dubai Maritime City, which also include the Marina District; Industrial Precinct; Dubai Maritime City Campus; Harbour Offices; and Harbour Residences. The mega project has been developed according to stringent internationally recognised ‘green building’ policies, requiring all developers to obtain environmental certification to ensure energy conservation and optimised living conditions.
Located at the heart of the Dubai Maritime City, the Maritime Centre is a cluster of five high-rise towers called the Creek Towers and Plaza; a landmark tower located at the top of the man-made peninsula; and seven plots reserved for developers planning to construct their own towers. It will be equipped with a full range of complementary facilities to enhance its reputation as the focal point of Dubai Maritime City and ultimately the universal capital for all maritime businesses.
“Dubai Maritime City will bring us to a new frontier, revolutionising practically all aspects in the maritime industry. With its fully integrated facilities and infrastructure, we have developed Dubai Maritime City to be a centre of excellence for international maritime activities, and will be a key instrument in realising the long-term economic goals outlined in DubaiCs strategic plan. The Maritime Centre will play a significant part in the overall development plan of Dubai Maritime City, serving essentially as the nerve centre of this mega development project," added Bin Hareb.
The Asia Oil & Gas Show 2008, the first event of its kind to be held in South Korea, provided a suitable platform for Dubai Maritime City to network with specific players and potential partners in the oil and gas sector, particularly those in the field of transport, ship building and marine technology. The event also offered insights on future trends and covered all relevant industry issues particularly those related to the environment and business development.
