  • More than 2,800 DUBAL employees and their families registered for UAE National ID system in just four weeks.

A forward-thinking initiative implemented by Dubai Aluminium Company Limited (“DUBAL”) in conjunction with the Emirates Identity Authority (“EIDA”) has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to community service that benefits both its employees and the nation. The initiative – which took the form of a dedicated UAE National ID Registration Office at the aluminium giant’s Jebel Ali smelter complex – gave DUBAL employees and their families a quick and convenient means to register for the UAE National ID system. More than 2,800 DUBAL employees and their families availed themselves of the service over the four weeks that the initiative endured.

Khalid Essa Buhumaid (General Manager: Corporate Relations & International Affairs; and Official Spokesperson of DUBAL) attributes this success to EIDA’s willingness to tackle the task together. “As a responsible corporate citizen, DUBAL is always eager to co-operate with the UAE government authorities in a spirit of partnership and co-operation, thereby enabling the fulfillment of all their strategic objectives. Accordingly, we offered our whole-hearted support for the federal government’s implementation of the UAE National ID system by providing registration facilities for our people on site,” says Buhumaid. “However, we could not have achieved this amazing number of registrations without the valuable input provided by EIDA – specifically EIDA’s quick response and co-operation with DUBAL senior management in implementing the initiative.”

Buhumaid also expressed the hope that DUBAL’s initiative in this regard would serve as a role model for other companies in the UAE. “DUBAL is acknowledged as a pioneer in many areas of business,” he says. “We encourage other companies followed our lead by offering similar National ID system registration facilities for their employees. After all, by working collaboratively with government, business can contribute measurably to the success of this nation-building effort.”
