  • With Celebrity Chef Antony Worrall Thompson presents a live cookery demonstration

Under the patronage of H.E. Dr Rajha bint Abdulamir Ali, Minister of Tourism, and in the presence of H.E. Eng. Abdulla Bin Abbas Bin Ahmed, Chairman of Board of Directors of The Wave Muscat, the luxurious Show Villas at The Wave, Muscat were officially unveiled at a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The new villas, one each from architects, Tombazis, Santini and Triad, combine a modernist approach in their treatment with a distinct Omani Character. In some ways it is correct to identify them as a modern interpretation of Omani Architecture, set in a well designed environment, with rich amenities and services of international standards. The three Villas are however, very distinct in their layouts, internal play of spaces and, their inter-relationships.

The event celebrated another milestone for The Wave, Muscat as guests and VIP’s were taken for a tour of the new Show Villas adjacent to the Sales Centre. The highlight of the event was Award-winning UK celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson who came to Oman especially for this demonstration. He has entertained food lovers in the UK for the past 27 years and has achieved a great reputation in this field. In a live cooking demonstration he tempted the culinary taste buds of The Wave, Muscat customers at an exclusive cooking session organized at the kitchen of the Santini Show Villa at The Wave, Muscat.

In a comment to the press, Nick Smith, Chief Executive Officer, The Wave, Muscat said, “On behalf of the Wave, Muscat team, I would like to thank HE The Minister of Tourism for presiding over today’s event as we celebrate another big achievement of the Wave, Muscat. With the opening of our show villas we set another example of The Wave, Muscat’s commitment to deliver luxurious living standards to our customers. We also feel delighted to introduce this world class mixed use community to our guest Mr. Anthony Worrall Thompson. His presence here today is an opportunity for us to showcase our villas and to demonstrate that residents here at The Wave, Muscat will receive the highest quality kitchens within their properties, kitchens that are indeed fit for a Meilleu Ovrier de Grande Bretagne (MOGB) Chef.

The Wave, Muscat is pushing boundaries of what has previously been delivered within in Oman, and this is an exciting task that carries with it a great deal of responsibility. We are determined to exceed the expectations of our home buyers and hope the Show villas will provide another window for all to see what The Wave, Muscat has to offer in terms of fine living”.

Talking about his visit to Oman, Thompson said: “It is a real pleasure to be visiting the beautiful Sultanate of Oman once again, and I am delighted to have been asked by The Wave, Muscat to visit their development, and to have the opportunity to cook for all the guests in this fantastic kitchen within the Santini show villa.  I am sure that every resident will be thrilled with the standard of the homes, and the great community which is being created here at The Wave, Muscat.”

Thompson has hosted several notable shows on BBC and ITV1, and successfully runs 6 restaurants and 4 pubs in and around London. Among many of his accolades, the most prestigious one remains the Meilleur Ouvrier de Grande Bretagne (MOGB) a lifelong title thatCs considered the chef’s Oscar. He is also considered a food think tank and is often asked to comment on serious food issues such as diabetes, obesity, nutrition and the eating habits of children.

The Wave, Muscat, is a joint venture between Oman’s Waterfront Investments, National Investment Funds Company and UAE based Majid Al Futtaim Group.
