• Annual two-month training programme aims to raise the standards of professionalism amongst young UAE Nationals
  

 In line with the governmentCs wishes to raise the standard of professionalism amongst young UAE Nationals, Dubai Aluminum Company Limited (“DUBAL”) – the world’s seventh largest producer of high quality primary aluminum - has begun its annual summer training programme that aims to expose UAE students to the companyCs renowned methods of operation. A group of 65 students has enrolled for the two-month initiative, which will run from the first week of July till the end of August this year.
 
The programme forms part of DUBALCs continuing nationalization drive to improve understanding of the aluminum industryCs workings amongst young UAE Nationals. The participating students were selected from several educational institutions throughout the UAE, including various schools, UAE University, the Higher College of Technology, the American University of Sharjah, Sharjah University, NIVE and IAT. Of the group, 40 are high school students and 25 attend various colleges and universities.
 
"This project is aligned with the vision of H H Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Chairman of DUBAL, who considers the initiative to be a valuable means of improving individual UAE NationalsC skills, as a way of accelerating the prosperity of the entire nation," said Ibrahim Nasser, General Manager, Human Resources and Organization Effectiveness, DUBAL. "We also use the training programme to identify the students with the most potential. Many previous summer students currently hold senior positions within DUBAL, where 74 percent of executive management positions are currently held by UAE Nationals. This year our target is to recruit 240 nationals."
 
The training programme includes an orientation session, where the students are given a comprehensive and in-depth assessment of DUBALCs major operations, including insight into its facilities and familiarization regarding the company’s Safety policies and procedures. Over the course of the two-month period, the training programme will also include instruction on technical operations, as well as courses in administration.
 
Each of the 65 trainees has been assigned to one of DUBALCs various divisions, depending on their respective qualifications, educational standards and relevant skills. Without exception, the students are excited at the prospect of benefiting from DUBALCs influential tutelage, albeit for a comparatively short period of time.
