Spending recreation time on the beach in the Capital has been improved with the support of Hyder Consulting, the award winning international advisory and design consultancy, who has implemented the design and supervised the redevelopment of the Abu Dhabi Beach.
The new Abu Dhabi Beach was officially opened on Wednesday 2nd of July, with its new look of graceful palm trees, updated recreational facilities and plush landscaping. The project was initiated by Abu Dhabi Municipality under the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and gives the residents of Abu Dhabi a first-class beach and leisure facility adjacent to the already thriving business district.
The Parks and Recreational Facilities Directorate of the Abu Dhabi Municipality selected Hyder Consulting to provide consultancy support for the design and construction of the sewerage and stormwater pipelines, associated manholes and pumping stations, irrigation system, potable water and electrical works, the board walkway, beach towers, palm trees, soft and hard landscaping, toilets, galleria buildings, Police building, marine works and all of the work associated with completion of the Abu Dhabi Beach project.
Commenting on the new launch, Ibrahim Abo El-Nour, Chief Resident Engineer at Hyder Consulting, said: “Abu Dhabi is blessed as a major city to have a pristine coastline on the crystal clear waters of the Arabian Gulf. It is a great asset and has now been embellished with the development of this striking new beach. We are pleased to have been part of one of the biggest recent projects in Abu Dhabi.
“Our focus was on developing the Abu Dhabi Beach to ensure that it was equipped with the best facilities while still being appealing to the residents and tourists alike. In addition, Hyder Consulting has delivered the generally unseen and yet essential infrastructure support including the below-ground stormwater, sewerage and landscaping works and, importantly, we completed it in over two months ahead of schedule.”
The new two-kilometre beach stretching along the Corniche is built in an area spanning eleven hectares with swimming places, refreshment outlets, scenic gardens, pathways, and beach volleyball pitches, is the most prominent leisure spot in the Capital and is now ready to be enjoyed by those in Abu Dhabi for many years to come.
