Metito brings relief to International City residents complaining of sewage overflow
|
- An overview of existing sewage plants
- Contract for new sewage treatment plant extension
- Latest technology to produce superior odourless & colourless effluent
Metito, the international desalination, water, and wastewater treatment specialist, today announced that it has been retained by Nakheel to assist in solving the sewage problem in International City.
Metito is resolving the present sewage issues with two distinct projects:
1 – Metito has been commissioned to build an extension to International City’s existing sewage treatment facility. The plant extension has been completed and is currently on line.
2 – Metito has been retained to carryout an overall study on International City existing sewage system to provide advice on an integrated solution to better manage sewage flow in the immediate and short term. Metito is working very closely with Nakheel to finalise the study.
Salah Ackad, General Manager for Dubai and Northern Emirates, Metito said, “Metito has been offering strategic advice to governments and the private sector throughout the Middle East since 1958 and it is this experience and knowledge that will allow us to quickly and efficiently carry out an overall strategic study on the existing sewage system in International City”.
It is the company’s successful design, construction and operation of water and wastewater treatment plants in other Nakheel developments that has lead to their trusted relationship with the developer including the recent completion of the AED 17 million project to design and build the reverse osmosis polishing plant at Nakheel’s prestigious Palm Jumeirah.
Mr. Ackad continued, “Metito has been commissioned to build the extension of the existing plant. This new plant will provide an additional treatment capacity of 5,000 cubic meters per day - which is enough to cater for a population of 20,000 inhabitants. This new extension utilises the latest membrane technology which provides superior odourless and colourless effluent”.
Metito, celebrating this year its 50th anniversary, is a shining example of a Middle Eastern company that has grown to be a world leader in its field. Metito operates locally in 14 countries of the Arab and Islamic World, and supplies its plants internationally to locations as far apart as Argentina and Australia from its base in the United Arab Emirates. Some of the company’s notable achievements in the past year include the rehabilitation of the Hartha & Najibiyah power stations in Iraq, the water supply to Pelindo ports in Indonesia, drinking water supply to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt and the innovative reuse of water at The Palm, Jumeirah.
