DED’s eServices boost efficiency of operation and enhance productivity
The Information Technology Division at the Department of Economic Development (DED) announced that the DED’s eServices launched at its website have received strong response from customers, with over 1 million users logging in during the first six months of 2008.
The DED launched eServices last year to facilitate speedy business registration procedures, and provide an efficient and simplified environment for investors in Dubai. The initiative is part of DED’s commitment to fulfil the emirate’s eGovernance policies and was specially created to boost operational efficiency and productivity.
Of the 1,068,218 users in the first-half of 2008 for DED’s eServices, the online Transaction Status service registered the highest usage with 330,874 customer queries, followed by Search for Trade Names (183,481), Business Set up Simulator (165,958), Company Lookup (151,489), Number of Licenses per Person Report (101,865), Activity Search (80,435), License Renewal Cost Estimator (31,985), Fines for a License Report (17,703) and the Sales and Promotions service (4,428). On-line visits were logged from the UAE, USA, UK, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, among others.
“The continuously increasing number of eServices users reiterates the success of DED’s strategy to shape an e-driven economy for Dubai and further strengthen the overall business climate,” said Abdullah Saif Al Kaabi, Director of DED’s Information Technology Division. “DED is always on the lookout to improve and upgrade its IT system, which will help boost customer service standards of the entire department.”
He added: “Informative and easy-to-use, the web services feature descriptive help text, Arabic/English support and a friendly layout and design. Internet users can instantly access the information without having to go through any registration process.”
