Trend Micro Enterprise Security Minimizes Time to Protect Against New and Unknown Web Threats
|
Trend Micro Incorporated (TSE: 4704), a global leader in Internet content security, announced today new products, services, and solutions to help enterprises minimize the time to protect against new and unknown Web threats. Given the changing threat landscape, time has become the critical element for enterprises in preventing malware and insider threats from damaging their employee productivity, customer, supplier and partner relationships, and corporate reputation.
Trend Micro Enterprise Security delivers solutions, products and capabilities that combine powerful real-time threat protection technologies in the cloud and a lightweight on-premise architecture to deliver immediate and automatic protection from new and unknown threats, wherever they attack. Trend Micro, faced with the escalation of a faster, more complex Web threat landscape, is optimizing its current enterprise security portfolio, as well as creating new solutions, that have a higher level of automated, real-time threat responses. The company does this by:
Building upon the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network
Powered by Smart Protection Network, a next-generation cloud-client content security infrastructure designed to protect customers from Web threats no matter how or where they occur, combined with the company’s patent-pending “in-the-cloud” technologies, Trend Micro Enterprise Security delivers immediate protection that improves automatically, closing the vulnerability window before damage is done and giving customers more time to proactively manage security across their enterprise.
Real-time threat protection technologies and a lightweight client architecture enables Trend Micro Enterprise Security to develop comprehensive, multi-layered security and proactive security management that speeds threat response and reduces the need for time-consuming security updates. Updating its gateway appliance strategy with a move towards software virtual appliances
Trend Micro is introducing two new software virtual appliances in order to address an increased market demand for security solutions that reduce costs, increase IT flexibility, speed up performance, simplify deployment and upgrades, improve disaster recovery and promote business continuity. These software appliances combine a hardened operating system and application stack that can run optimally on industry standard “bare-metal” hardware or alternatively in a virtual machine. These products are as follows:
InterScan™ Web Security Software Virtual Appliance (IWSVA) will deliver comprehensive, timely protection against Web-based threats such as spyware and bots. By incorporating Trend Micro’s in-the-cloud Web threat protection as an additional layer of defense, IWSVA includes real-time Web reputation, content scanning and URL filtering capabilities to secure organizations against today’s latest Web threats.
InterScan Messaging Security Software Virtual Appliance (IMSVA) will deliver comprehensive protection against email-based threats such as spam, viruses, malware and botnets, today’s most rapidly growing source of spam. By incorporating Trend Micro’s in-the-cloud Email Reputation Service, up to 80 percent of spam can be dropped at the connection level, freeing up bandwidth and storage. Also incorporated within IMSVA is Trend Micro’s in-the-cloud Web Reputation which can block access to malicious Web sites in real time.
In addition, Trend Micro is introducing a Software Virtual Appliance Certification Program that is designed to ensure compatibility between Trend Micro software virtual appliance solutions and appliance hardware platform providers (IHVs). This program reduces risk for customers in using Trend Micro software virtual appliance solutions through extensive testing and validation of appliance hardware providers. The program also helps IHV partners to receive a “certification of compatibility” for their appliance platforms.
North American Pricing and Availability for IWSVA and IMSVA
As a software appliance, IWSVA and IMSVA are scheduled to be available in Q3. Per user pricing varies by seat count and price decreases with volume. Exact pricing is to be determined.
Announcing new products and solutions powered by Trend Micro Smart Protection Network
New products and solutions that leverage Trend Micro Smart Protection Network and will be introduced in the coming months include:
- A Web application security solution designed for enterprises who want to ensure the safety and integrity of their Web sites and the confidential data behind them. This solution will include both in-the-cloud services and installed products to deliver maximum value. A scanning service component will regularly test for the latest Web site vulnerabilities; a monitoring and alerting service component will detect when an enterpriseCs site has been compromised and its users are being redirected to malicious sites; and a browser plug-in component will directly protect the enterpriseCs users from attacks that would direct them to malicious sites. This solution will support compliance efforts that assure enterprise Web applications are not vulnerable to attacks that could harm businesses or customers.
- An endpoint security solution that protects increasingly mobile endpoints from an ever-changing threat landscape while at the same time providing a flexible architecture to add functionality at any time, thus ensuring the right endpoints are protected with the right technology. This solution will not only secure endpoints in real-time from Web threats, but will also protect a customer’s intellectual property and company data with industry-leading data leak protection.
- An integrated security solution that secures Unified Communication and Collaboration (UCC) Systems (email, IM, collaboration and more) to protect against evolving Web threats, and prevent intrusion and data leakage - avoiding lost productivity, lost reputation, and diminished business advantage. The solution is wired into the Smart Protection Network to deliver immediate protection. Further, it is built on technologies proven to require the lowest administrative time in the industry.
Some of Trend Micro’s most prominent endpoint security, Web security and messaging security products and solutions are already powered by Trend Micro Smart Protection Network, including InterScan Web Security 3.1 products, InterScan Messaging Security products, OfficeScan™ 8.0 SP1 and IM Security for Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007.
“The new threat landscape has shifted the risk equation faced by enterprises today. This phenomenon is driving the need for real-time protection,” said Tom Miller, global vice president and general manager, enterprise customer business unit of Trend Micro. “Powered by our unique Smart Protection Network, Trend Micro Enterprise Security delivers immediate protection that improves automatically, closing the vulnerability window before damage is done, and giving enterprises more time to proactively manage security across their organizations.”
