Abu Dhabi Police showcases latest methods and techniques at ‘Science of Spying’ exhibition
The Abu Dhabi Police continues to draw crowds at the inaugural Summer in Abu Dhabi family festival being held until August 18, 2008 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). Officers have been demonstrating the latest law enforcement techniques, technologies and equipment as part of the festival’s popular ‘Science of Spying” exhibition.
The 1,000-square-meter ‘Science of Spying’ traveling interactive exhibition from London introduces visitors to the latest skills and methods used by real-life undercover agents. Abu Dhabi Police officers have been assisting participants in using basic law enforcement and spying techniques to complete a simulated mission by evading detection and capture. Although a huge hit with the kids, the show has attracted a lot of attention from adults as well, typifying the family-friendly atmosphere of the festival. ‘Science of Spying’ can be found in “Adventure Island,” one of seven uniquely-themed ‘island’ zones spanning 13,000 square meters of air conditioned indoor space.
First Lieutenant Fawaz Ali Abdulla of the Abu Dhabi Police said, “We are honoured to be able to pass our teachings onto the younger generation – our future leaders, in a fun and interactive environment. This is important so that we maintain community confidence and adopt the best international practices to protect public safety and control crime in Abu Dhabi.”
“Also there are no limits for the Abu Dhabi Police in promoting the local community and ensuring that it receives all what it needs to remain strong, united and safe. We are aiming at sponsoring more social events to support sport activities, school students, hospitals, volunteer workers, and many other parts of the society. In short, we keep our eyes open not only to guarantee everyone’s safety, but also to make sure everyone is happy too. We are pleased to be part of this event and we will announce soon our other initiatives,” concluded Lieutenant Fawaz.
Aside from Adventure Island, Summer in Abu Dhabi also features six other themed areas, namely the Discovery; Imagination; Creativity; Action; Heritage & Culture; and Fun Islands. Abu Dhabi Police cadets are also patrolling all these areas everyday to ensure the safety of visitors, particularly children, and offering assistance whenever necessary.
Summer in Abu Dhabi runs at ADNEC from June 26th - August 18th. Tickets are priced at AED30 for an adult and AED20 for a child between 4 - 16, children under 4 get in free. Tickets can be purchased on the door and visitors are advised to park at Sheikh Zayed Sports City, where ADNEC will provide a constant free shuttle bus service.
