From caramel popcorn to crème brulee there is a wide variety of eats to indulge in at Modhesh Fun City
With only a couple of days left for another DSS edition to conclude, Modhesh Fun City, sponsored this year by du – the integrated telecom service provider in the UAE, is gearing up to welcome the multitude of visitors in the last few days. Apart from the free zones and numerous rides, children and families shouldn’t miss the Modhesh Food Zone.
“You can select your choice of eats from the simpler spectrum of ice creams, chocolate fondue, toffee apples, caramel popcorn, nachos, fatayer, or enjoy a lavish meal at any one of the four different restaurants at the Modhesh food zone. Among the popular caterers at the venue are Saj2go, Fatayer Fatami, Abela Catering and Barjeel Foods,” pointed out Ahmad Ali, Manager at Modhesh Fun City.
He added, “We have maintained a diverse range of eats and treats at Modhesh Fun City because we are aware that a large number of people from different nationalities, cultures and age groups visit us. There is scope for both fast food and elaborate dining. Since it’s a summer event we have a good number of ice cream kiosks and happy to see the customer satisfaction to find popular brands like Baskin Robbins, Mini Melts, Bakeria and the Sweet Factory with us. There is also the softy zone and the chocolate fondue that is a top favourite among children and adults alike.”
Micheal Glory, an attendant at the Saj2go kiosk said, “The season has been quite a success. People are fascinated by the freshly made eats at the stall. Though we have a large variety of toppings to select from, people tend to prefer their favourites. Chocolate filling is popular with children and youngsters like to have cheese with mortodella. The adults often order zaatar and labneh.”
Mary Jhoanne, from the Kool Kammello stall said, “Nothing sells faster than ice cream in the summers! Though we have kept only the basic flavours, we have had great business and the children have enjoyed their cool treats with toppings of different kinds. We will miss the many friends we made during our stay here.”
Mohamed Kazim Suleman swings duties between the popcorn and the chocolate fondue kiosks, he said, “I feel the chocolate fountain has been the most favourite eat at Modhesh Fun City. In a day we’d sell close to 200 plates and over the weekends the numbers would double themselves. Working at MFC has been a great experience for me. Most of my friends come by and enjoy here so I never really felt left out or on the job.”
Commenting on the sales at the popcorn and nachos stall, he said, “Popcorn is an ever green treat. This year we introduced caramel popcorn to the venue. People have enjoyed it just as much as the usual salted variety. I think girls prefer the sweeter one, while boys like nachos. Overall, its been a special summer, with lots to do, good fun and nice returns too.”
Housed at the Airport Expo in Dubai, Modhesh Fun City is open to all from 10.00am to 10.00pm, Saturday to Wednesday. On Thursdays and Fridays, the venue remains open until 12.00am. It opens at 3.00pm on Fridays. Entry fee is AED 20 per person.
du, the integrated telecom service provider in the UAE, is the official sponsor of Modhesh Fun City during DSS 2008 in addition to Emirates, DWTC, Masafi, and UAE Exchange.
