Petrofac, the international oil & gas facilities service provider, has today announced the official opening of a new state-of-the-art training centre in Dubai. The Dubai Petroleum Training Centre (DPTC) is the result of a joint agreement between the Government of Dubai oil company, Dubai Petroleum Establishment (DPE), and Petrofac Training, to invest in, and develop, a safety and technical training centre in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Managed and operated by Petrofac Training, a leading provider of training and consultancy solutions to the international energy industries, the facility is equipped to meet the safety and technical training needs of the energy industries throughout the Middle East. With a practical training area of approximately 1,500 square metres, the centre boasts cutting-edge training equipment; including a mobile helicopter underwater escape training unit, a mobile confined space training unit, a rigging & lifting frame, and a scaffolding area. The centre also has four fully equipped classrooms, and as a result can deliver a mix of practical and theoretical learning onsite to both external clients and DPE.
Abdulaziz Mohammed, manager, External Affairs, Dubai Petroleum Establishment officially opened the new training centre, located at DPE’s Headquarters in Dubai. Abdulaziz Mohammed said: “For DPE this is the first small step in a larger programme to provide the basis for young Emirates to join us in DPE in one of the most important global industries.”
This investment demonstrates Petrofac Training’s commitment to the development of United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) nationals for entry-level positions into the workforce and the Company’s continued focus to develop competent workforces globally.
Walter Thain, VP, sales & marketing, Petrofac Training, said: “Petrofac is delighted to work with DPE to provide this world-class training centre in Dubai. The establishment of the centre will ensure companies in the Middle East have access to quality competence-based training, and demonstrates Petrofac Training’s relentless aim to support one of the industry’s most critical challenges in growing, developing and maintaining competent workforces globally.”
