13 Emirati youth successfully complete ENOC Challenge II
|
- Ten trainees offered jobs within the group
ENOC Challenge II, ENOC’s flagship CSR campaign, concluded on an upbeat note with ten of the participants offered a job within various departments of the company.
At a recent ceremony held in the Group’s Dubai headquarters, five male and eight female trainees received certificates of training from ENOC’s Learning and Development (L&D) Department and a cash allowance, to give those yet to find employment a head start in their search for work. The majority of the participants have been identified as promising and well-performing.
Saeed Abdullah Khoory, Group Chief Executive of ENOC, congratulated the trainees and the staff who contributed to the success of ENOC Challenge II. He said, “As a leading oil and gas company in the region, ENOC should also be leading by example in giving back to the community. Through ENOC Challenge, we aim to empower today’s youth and ensure a bright and prosperous future for them. We feel proud that the programme has made a big difference in the lives of 13 young UAE nationals and prepared them for success in their careers.”
ENOC Challenge II was also aimed to set a new model for corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the UAE. It was supported by the UAE Red Crescent Society, the principal charitable organisation in the country, which also nominated the 13 candidates.
The learning and development modules of the programme covered computers, English language, problem solving, team building and customer care. The progress made by each trainee was regularly evaluated by the mentors and trainers from L&D.
Khalid Hadi, Group Brand and Marketing Manager of ENOC, said that ENOC Challenge II would provide a major stimulus to emiratisation. “ENOC Challenge aims is an annual event, to serve as a launch pad into the corporate world for UAE nationals graduating out of schools every year. Its focus on less privileged citizens complements emiratisation and secures the future for our youth.”
“ENOC Challenge has taught us about the skills and behaviour expected from us in a workplace. I really appreciate companies reaching out to UAE nationals through such initiatives, helping us to improve ourselves and our communities,” said 19-year old Mona Ali, a Challenge II participant.
“The best thing about ENOC Challenge II was its emphasis on practical experiences. Not only do we know more things now, but we also do things in a more efficient way,” Adel Ahmad Hassan, another intern, added.
At the ceremony, Fatma Rashid Omar delivered a speech on behalf of her fellow trainees. She said, “ENOC Challenge II has been a tremendous experience for us. I would like to thank everyone behind this initiative, including the trainers and mentors from L&D who devoted their time to enhance our knowledge and make us confident enough to be vital players in today’s world.”
