Dubai Quality Group organized a lecture on achieving excellence in government agencies. The lecture included a presentation about the achievements of Dubai Government Excellence Program ever since its launch ten years ago, and its impact on the performance level of the governmental departments of Dubai.
The presenter, HE Ahmad Nusairat, coordinator general of Dubai Government Excellence Program, and director of Improving Government Services at The Executive Council, started his presentation with a quote from HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, “in the race for excellence there is no finish line.” The lecture included some important facts about the economical structure in Dubai, and the role of the services sector in this economy. A main point of the lecture was that it is necessary that the performance level of the service sector improves, so to improve the services economy and elevate it to the level of excellence
Nusairat referred to the findings of a study conducted by an objective international firm about the achievements of the program; 89% of the participants say that the program has helped achieve the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, 86% of the participants say that the program has a major role in implementing the goals of Dubai Strategic Plan , and 93% of the participants say that the program had noticeably improved the performance level of governmental departments
He also presented some initiatives of the program, such as the mystery shopper, customer and employee satisfaction surveys, and the unified complaint system. Many more initiatives have been mentioned, such as those that enhance the cooperate excellence, which has placed Dubai and its governmental services among the best and most creative services in the region and the world.
Dr. Wafi Dawood, Vice-chairman of Dubai Quality Group, said “our seminar today was highly informative, as it was based on statistics and solid evidence. This makes it beneficial for all the participants.”
He added, “Dubai Government Excellence Program was one of the first steps that HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum had set towards establishing an excellent government performance level that exceeds that of many private sector companies, whether local, regional, or even international. Here at Dubai Quality Group we believe that spreading awareness about such programs and successful practices would help make excellence a culture among everyone.”
