Sama Dubai, the international real estate investment and development arm of Dubai Holding, today announced the release of its first-ever Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report featuring a rigorous analysis of its initiatives implemented in 2006-2007, and outlining Sama Dubai’s core values and mission towards CSR.
The report also benchmarks Sama Dubai’s accomplishments and activities against the ten guiding principles of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) of which Sama Dubai has been a founding member since 2006 and whose role is to encourage businesses worldwide to adopt and report on its sustainable and socially responsible policies.
Farhan Faraidooni, Executive Chairman of Sama Dubai said: “We at Sama Dubai have set strategic objectives to integrate economic, environmental and social concerns into our regular decision making process, with corporate social responsibility considered as one of our top priorities. We are committed to creating sustainable developments, and as part of this commitment, we take into consideration the social and economic wellbeing of the communities we operate in.
“We are proud to be an industry leader by publishing this CSR report, which has been a thorough and comprehensive endeavour involving virtually every department across our broad organization. The report reflects our goal to being a world-class corporate citizen, which means that in addition to shaping landmark projects across the region, we also strive to do our part to make the world a better place.”
Outlining the many ways Sama Dubai is proactively addressing critical business, environmental and social issues, the report explains what the company is doing to build on its long-standing commitment to provide exceptional customer service throughout its enterprise, create a great workplace environment, instill strong corporate governance practices and make a positive difference in local communities.
“The data presented in the report will serve as baseline for future reports. In addition to strengthening the awareness in corporate social responsibility and its long term implications on the company and its stakeholders, the report will serve as a roadmap for conceptualising new contributions to the progress of a prosperous society and for ensuring the sustainable development of our economy,” added Faraidooni.
The report also provides an overview of the actions Sama Dubai is undertaking to maintain its commitment to the UNGC. The UNGC membership mandates Sama Dubai to demonstrate leadership in advancing responsible corporate citizenship, managing risks, and producing practical solutions to contemporary problems related to globalisation and sustainable development in a multi-stakeholder context.
