Craftsmanship tradition with a modern outlook at INDEX

Under the auspices of the Haute-Vienne Chamber of Trades, there will be eight French craftsmen displaying know-how that is both contemporary and traditional: stained glass, enamel on brass, mosaic, porcelain or leatherwork. Gathered in the Ubifrance Pavilion, those company owners will be intent on demonstrating at Index the excellence and vibrancy of the Limousin Region’s craftsmanship tradition:
 
BLANC CREPUSCULE: upscale table top and porcelain decorations in contemporary designs. The company produces unique works in small and medium runs. It also innovates in offering furniture and lighting fixtures that interplay with the texture and grain of porcelain. www.ligneyannfayaud.com
 
CREARTS: creates contemporary and traditional stained-glass artworks as well as glass furniture and lighting fixtures (fusing). The creations on display in Dubai will be based on vegetal and minerals, highlighting glass and wood used in making coffee tables. www.crearts-design.fr
 
FRANCK TIONI / B&AC: Under the T.T.TRUNKS brand, both companies sell upscale travel and furniture items intended for the hotel industry and the general public. At Index, they will present a mini-bar trunk, a wardrobe trunk and a vanity case. JARDIN DE MOSAÏQUE: mosaic serving matter. Whether using glass paste or enamel, smalts, stone, painted enamel or copper plate, this company “can do” when it comes to working mosaic. PALAIS DE L’EMAIL: under the Kharto pseudonym, Patrick Rathonie produces his painted enamels in the purest Limousin region tradition. Taking pieces that are baked 8 to 20 times at 850 degrees Celsius, he paints and affixes his enamels upon them by hand, often adding a gold-powder finish. rathonie@wanadoo.fr
 
PIERRE MACHINAL: a designer by trade, the creator has invented the enamel wall tile upon brass. Whether geometrical, vegetal or floral, no motif is beyond him. He also creates coffee tables and various furniture pieces. www.andcogallery.com
