Cleopatra’s Ayurveda proudly presents ELAKKIZHI or PATHRASWEDA as its signature treatment procedure.Elakkizhi in its simple sense we can say as the herbal leaves bag massage procedure. Ayurveda offers time tested remedies and excellent preventive measures with no side effects. Elakkizhi is the specialized massage procedure done with the herbal leaves and oils. We in Cleopatra use eight different types of herbal leaves for this purpose. . Before the treatment clients are advised to have a detailed Ayurveda consultation with our in- house Ayurveda Doctor. This Ayurveda consultation is based on a questionnaire containing our physical, physiological and psychological parameters and the modern ways of physical examination such as Percussion, auscultation etc is also adopted.  After the consultation the individual is classified as Biological Air( VATA), Biological Fire(PITTA) and Biological Water(KAPHA) constitution,  and accordingly the herbal leaves and oils are selected for that particular body constitution.
 
 Before the treatment procedure commences, herbal leaves are processed by cooking in the medicated oils and are packed in the specified cloths. After that these cloth bags are continuously heated with the herbal oil in a pot for about half an hour. Then the treatment procedure starts with a gentle oil application and massage on the head with suitable herbal oil and gradually whole body massage with another type of body oil. The whole procedure is about 90 minutes. During the massage the hot bags are applied all over the body that induces profuse sweating. After the procedure the clients are advised to have a steam bath to enhance the sweating and finally a luke warm water bath.
 
   So from the description one should understand that Elakkizhi is basically to detox our body. The fine alkaloids in the medicated leaves induce elimination of the deep seated toxins of our body. Elakkizhi is an excellent therapy for acute or chronic pains. Also Elakkizhi is widely used as a treatment to enhance the mobility of the joints and in muscular atropy.It increases the strength and vitality of the body and also improves sleep and digestion.
