Global Experts to Convene in Dubai for Second Anti-Aging Congress
|
- Significant contribution to region’s healthcare industry on target for $11.9 billion by 2015.
More than 1,000 global experts will gather in Dubai from 8-9 November 2009 to review the latest developments and trends in anti-aging medicine at the second Dubai Congress on Anti-Aging & Aesthetic Medicine (DCAAAM).
Supported by the Ministry of Health, this year’s conference is driven by the advancements made in reversing the natural process of aging and features an innovative medical programme that aims to inform and educate through presentations, workshops and hands-on demonstrations.
The UAE healthcare sector is among the most dynamic areas of the economy and is set to grow by 14% over the next five years. Currently accounting for 6% of Dubai’s non-oil gross domestic product, it is expected to reach $11.9 billion in 2015.
Heading the summit is Dr Robert Goldman, chairman of the World Anti-Aging Academy of Medicine (WAAAM). Joining him from the Middle East – and renowned for putting the UAE on the anti-aging and aesthetic map – are Dr Max Sawaf, CEO Cosmesurge Middle East, Dr Maria Khattar, Managing Director Aesthetica Dubai and Dr Luiz Toledo Cosmetic Surgeon.
Joining them will be internationally renowned stem cell expert Dr Susan Lim from Singapore; specialist in nutritional medicine Claus Muss from Germany; anti-aging expert Dr Bill Anton from Australia and recognised speaker on aesthetic procedures Martin Kassir from the USA.
The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine has a membership of more than 20,000 physicians and scientists from 90 countries and has pioneered the establishment of anti-aging medicine as a recognised medical speciality.
Says Dr Max Sawaf: “As the first anti-aging centre in the Middle East, we at Cosmesurge have seen the industry grow and mature. The success of DCAAAM 2008 and the interest in this year’s event, endorses the Middle East’s presence globally.”
Dr Maria Khattar added: “Last year established anti-aging as an integral part of the healthcare sector in the region. This year I’m looking forward to hearing about the new research and updated technologies available to practitioners.”
Anti-aging medicine applies advanced scientific and medical technologies for the early detection, prevention, treatment and reversal of age-related dysfunction, disorders and diseases. These include: cosmetic, laser and plastic surgery; aesthetic procedures; bio-identical hormone replacement therapy; medical weight loss and nutrition; mesotherapy and facial rejuvenation and stem cell therapies.
The Dubai Congress on Anti-Aging and Aesthetic Medicine will be held at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre from 8-9 November 2009. Event gold sponsors are Pharmapal and Golden Key Solutions.
