•  SpongeBob Squarepants and Dora the Explorer Captivate Crowds at Zabeel Park

Two of Nickelodeon’s much loved animation characters, SpongeBob Squarepants and Dora the Explorer, put in a surprise appearance at a fun fair in Zabeel Park, entertaining audiences as part of the channel’s participation in the ‘The Fat Truth’, a nationwide awareness campaign on child obesity.
 
Held on 25 April to mark the Community Sports Day, the event drew large number of families and served to raise awareness on the importance of proper nutrition and diet, even while highlighting the benefits of adopting healthier lifestyles during the growing years.
 
The Fat Truth campaign, which kick-started on 20 April and runs until 20 July, is supported by UNICEF’s strategic partner the General Women’s Union, World Health Organisation (WHO), the UAE Ministry of Education and the Princess Haya Initiative for Development Health, Physical Education and School Sports.
 
Home of the world’s most popular children’s television programmes, Nickelodeon is a media sponsor of The Fat Truth campaign as part of its dedication to teaching kids the importance of healthy eating and an active lifestyle. The channel has instituted a series of interstitial segments called ‘Sahtain’ that teach children how to cook simple and delicious snacks. It has also drawn up interesting programming on health and nutrition activities for the rest of 2009.
