Land Rover, the manufacturer of the world's finest all-terrain vehicles sponsored The Mountain High Artic Women's challenge for the third consecutive year. The adventure took place in Svalbard, 600 miles from the North Pole, from 25th April – 3rd May 2009; which included people from diverse backgrounds, nationalities and age-groups coming together to raise awareness of controlling the spread of breast cancer through education and prevention.
The eight member team, including a breast cancer survivor and a teenager, enjoyed exhilarating experiences such as ice caving, dog sledding, and snow mobile safari during the challenge.
“It was fantastic to have Land Rover’s support again this year in raising breast cancer awareness following the success of our previous two years trips,” said Julie Lewis, Founder and Managing Director of Mountain High, a Dubai based company that encourages people to take charge of their health by being more active in the great outdoors and taking time out with nature.
The team was trained at Ski Dubai to adjust to the cold climate and to prepare themselves for the harsh weather conditions in the Arctic.
“Land Rover is proud to support Mountain High’s drive to educate and encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Our partnership with Mountain High is in line with the company’s philosophy to always create, inspire and deliver a spirit of adventure for everyone”, said Robin Colgan, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover, Middle East and North Africa.
