Huawei Symantec showcases unique network security and storage products at Symantec Partner Summit

Company aims to maximise regional market as platform to fully leverage global network security industry

Huawei Symantec Technologies, a joint venture between Huawei Technologies and Symantec Corporation, has showcased its unique network security and storage products toapproximately 100 regional channel partners at the recently concluded Symantec Partner Summit. The move is in line with the company’s strategy to maximise the regional market as well as the global network security industry, which according to recent statistics is projected to hit USD 9.5 billion by 2015. Official representatives from authorised distributors Mindware and Tech Access were also present at the event.
 
The highlighted products, which are currently available in the MENA, include the OceanStor S2600 Series, an entry-level disk array that provides optional host connectivities of Fibre Channel (FC), Internet SCSI (iSCSI) or Serial Attached SCSI (SAS), and SAS/Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) drive in the back end. Other products showcased at the event included the OceanStor VIS6000 series of storage virtualisation gateways, which can be used to consolidate heterogeneous storage systems or as a data migration tool; and the OceanStor N8000, a Linux-based distributed network attached storage (NAS) system that is built on Veritas Storage Foundation technology.
 
“Organisations must take a more unified approach to security, as the days of managing network defense, Web and messaging security, and data security as separate activities will simply not succeed in today's economic and threat environment,” said Christoff Eilerd, Channel Director, MEA, Huawei Symantec Technologies. “Amidst the contraction of other segments of the market, which has adversely affected channel players, our Middle East operations will focus on educating them and the market on the importance of efficiently using resources and organisational management infrastructure to achieve an effective network, which will help our distributors enhance their business and simultaneously expand the reach of our products.”
