The Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai and Union Co-operative Society (UCS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at serving Dubai’s low income families which receive social benefits. The MoU is part of joint efforts to facilitate living standards of Emirati low income families in the emirate.

As per the MoU, the Community Development Authority will provide Union Co-operative Society with a list of candidates who can benefit from social support, and the UCS will then specify the support mechanisms that it will provide.

Her Excellency Dr Maryam Matar, Director General of the CDA, and His Excellency Majed Hamad Rahmeh Al Shamsi, Chairman of UCS, signed the agreement at a special ceremony held, recently, at CDA’s headquarters in the presence of Mr Khalid Humaid Al Falasi, General Manager of UCS and Mohammed Bakkar Al Harthy, CEO of Social Benefits, CDA.

“The MoU comes in line with the directions of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President & Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to strengthen community partnerships and the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility in Dubai. CDA seeks to encourage initiatives that support and serve local community as per Dubai Government’s strategy that encourages partnerships,” said Dr Maryam Matar.

“We are pleased to work with the Union Co-operative Society and contribute to the social and economic upliftment of the deserving individuals and families in need in the Emirate. We aim to support and serve low income citizens in order to enhance their quality of life,” added Dr Matar.

“Together with CDA, we aim to support various community groups, as we are committed to support families with low income to raise their standard of living and secure their future,” said Mr Al Shamsi
