Emirates Competitiveness Council Organizes a Competitiveness Workshop for Government Officials

Emirates Competitiveness Council organized a workshop for officials in the Federal Government and the local Governments on the importance of building and developing local skills to enhance the competitiveness of the UAE. This workshop which was held at Mina A’Salam Hotel in Dubai is part of the Government’s efforts to offer pertinent training opportunities to the public sector’s senior officials, enhance their professional capabilities, and develop competitiveness standards and strategies.
Abdullah Nasser Lootah, Secretary General of Emirates Competitiveness Council said, “This workshop offered an opportunity to explore the best international practices in training and building local skills. It is in line with the UAE Government’s strategy of developing human resources, enhancing their skills, enriching their knowledge and providing an opportunity to share their skills with their counterparts. We are looking to advance the competitiveness skills of UAE’s individuals and institutions, and meet the high international standards through a study-based program.”
Lootah further added, “The workshop is in conjunction with the Council’s directive of developing competitive strategies, policies and initiatives in the country, enforcing competitiveness across all sectors and improving collaboration between Federal Government departments and their local counterparts. It also aims to identify the main aspects that are essential to enhancing the competitiveness of the public sector.”
A number of representatives from different Government entities attended the workshop where they were exposed to different international strategies and practices with the aim of stimulating the progress of the global competitiveness drive in the UAE. The participants were imparted with in-depth knowledge about competitiveness, and the growing importance of its role in the overall economic development.
A number of case studies from different countries such as USA, UK and others pertaining to enhancing employee competitiveness were presented to the participants to facilitate in-depth understanding of the different topics and concepts that were highlighted in the workshop.
The workshop was organized by Emirates Competitiveness Council in cooperation with Monitor Group, a company specialized in providing competitiveness skills consultation and services to Governments, leading international corporations and companies specialized in the social domain. The company presents new ideas and programs to overcome challenges and provides new opportunities for progression.
