Thomas Klein International has been appointed as the new interior design consultant for the Butcher’s Den steak house chain.
The chain of restaurants owned by The Epicure Group based in Kuwait, is set to open its flagship outlet in Kuwait later this year. The company has invested 1.5 million dollars into developing the new chain, and has appointed Thomas Klein International to develop the interior concept of its outlets.
“We have an aggressive expansion plan within the region, and the focus of our restaurants will be on providing customers with quality and simplicity,” said Ahmed Al Bader, Director of Culinary Development for the Epicure Group.
The first Butcher’s Den in Kuwait will be 266m² in size with a seating capacity of 70 people, and will be located on two levels. The restaurant will also feature a show kitchen along with two private dining rooms, each encompassing a private in-room kitchen with a private chef. A special ageing room for the meat will also be built within the restaurant’s kitchen with full view into the dining area.
“To truly reflect on the name of new chain of restaurants, the design will incorporate mainly natural materials such as leather, wood and natural stone, marrying together elements of the wild and the traditional butcher’s block. It will be like ‘lion meets butcher’, and we promise that the new restaurant will be a true ‘altar to the meat lovers’,” said Thomas Klein International Managing Partner, Daniel During.
“Thomas Klein International will be working closely with their associate office, PS Studio in Chicago, to create an interiors concept that is at ‘earthy and sexy’. It is a challenge dictated by the owners, and the design team is thrilled about unveiling the final result,” he added.
Thomas Klein International conceptualises and develops designs for interiors, specialising in restaurants, kitchens and hotels. The scope of work involves the space analysis, maximization of revenue per square foot, conceptualisation and design presentation to the client followed by recommendation on fit-out materials, tender evaluation and project supervision.
Thomas Klein International has been operating in the region since 2001, and provides professional consultancy services mainly specialising in the hospitality, entertainment and leisure sectors, with a strong emphasis on food and beverage operations. The company has a network of over 100 specialized professionals in 10 countries, and is supported by an international team of talented architectural, interior and graphic designers based in Dubai, Brussels, Frankfurt and Chicago.
“As a true F&B consultant, Thomas Klein International starts a concept by looking at the core product - the food and beverage. The menus are always the starting point, followed by the design and layout of the restaurant and the interior to complement the menu style, the theme and the service element. The interior, in effect, is the stage where the food ‘act’ is performed,” added During.
“We are very excited about this new project and we look forward to working with the Epicure Group to create a very unique and functional restaurant concept for The Butcher’s Den.”
Thomas Klein International has worked on a variety of projects for prestigious clients in the past including; Sharjah’s tourist destination -Qanat Al Qasbah; Spazio restaurant at Prince Walid bin Talal’s Kingdom Tower; Dubai Industrial City Central Production Kitchen; Dubai Media City retail areas; and various independent and hotel restaurants including projects for Le Royal Meridian Abu Dhabi, Four Seasons Riyadh, Moevenpick Hotel Oud Metha Dubai and Wafi City.
