Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) at Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently adopted a highly sophisticated technology to clean the interior of its vehicle fleet, seats included. The process is part of DTC strategic plans to uplift customer service and create a feeling of added comfort and enjoyment among users of Dubai Taxi vehicles.
“Thanks to the new technology, workers at DTC workshop can now clean as much as 50 vehicles per day (3 hours per vehicle) while consuming limited amounts of water, and harmless chemical cleaning agents; rendering the new technology environment-friendly” said Yousef Al Ali, Director Fleet Processes & Operations at Dubai Taxi Corporation.
“Previously we have been using traditional methods in cleaning vehicle interior; which consumes much water with a productivity not exceeding 12 vehicles per day. Moreover, each vehicle used to require one full day to get dry; a process which negatively impacts the level of service by reducing the number of vehicles on road” added Al Ali.
“DTC is planning to raise the number of vehicles cleaned to 150 vehicles per day and carry out the process in a periodical manner likewise the general maintenance of fleet vehicles. We are currently conducting experimental use of a new type of perfumes inside Dubai Taxi vehicles operating on Dubai Airport line. These organic perfumes have pleasant fragrance and many passengers expressed their pleasure with this type of perfume, and hailed DTC efforts to provide convenient and enjoyable atmosphere, as reported by cabdrivers to the management of DTC.
“A new type of seat cover is being used on trial bases in case there were irremovable stains on seats. This type of heavy duty cover is supported by a plastic coat precluding the penetration of liquids and unpleasant smells to the seats. Currently we are rolling out a questionnaire to probe the opinion of Dubai Taxi passengers over a month’s time, following which we will announce the extent of public satisfaction with our services which are subject to continuous improvement” concluded Al Ali.
