Focuses on core product strategy and 'Think GAIA' brand initiative to establish SANYO as a global leader in delivering eco-friendly solutions
SANYO, a leading company in providing eco-friendly energy, environment and lifestyle applications, has announced that it has recently finalised a new growth strategy that aims to generate up to 30 per cent of the sales contribution from the Africa /CIS region in Sanyo Gulf’s total sales within three years from now. The new growth plan builds on the achievements of SANYO Gulf FZE, a fully owned subsidiary of SANYO established in 2004 to manage the company's operations in MEA and CIS countries, which has boosted SANYO's market value in the region.
SANYO revealed that it will focus on enhancing its core product strategy and cultivating untapped high-potential markets in the MEA region to maintain profitability and offset the impact of the global economic downturn, which has affected other key markets around the world. Among the core product categories to be aggressively marketed in the region include SANYO's new dual camera series, LCD projectors, solar based energy solutions, and commercial air-conditioners.
Takeshi Hirao, (Vice President of Sanyo Electric Co, Japan) and Chairman of, SANYO Gulf FZE said: "Our new growth strategy largely revolves around three key areas, which are market penetration, market development and strong focus on core products. Furthermore, we are consolidating and expanding SANYO's customer base by strengthening our partnership with hyper markets and power retailers of consumer electronics and digital products in the region. We have also created a dedicated business-to-business team to facilitate pre and post-tender services to our distributors, key developers and other clients. Customer retention equity is another key component to our long-term growth, which is why we have likewise reinforced our regional after-market support in our Dubai office for faster response time. Moreover, the 'Think GAIA' campaign has also been intensified to promote SANYO's brand vision to be a global leader in delivering energy, environment, Health care solutions.

With its conviction to protect the world and view it as a single living organism, SANYOcontinues to develop innovative products that cultivate environmental sustainability and promote social values, while focusing on three fronts: environment, energy and lifestyle.
"SANYO Gulf FZE has performed beyond expectations since its establishment five years ago, even achieving a remarkable 119 per cent growth last year alone. Now, we are thrilled to move on to another phase in our long-term commitment in the MEA region with the launch of our new expansion program. We have identified new product categories that match specific consumer preferences and we are also consolidating our presence in new markets that have shown excellent market potential. Overall, we expect our sales to be inline with the projected target figures although we have tough and challenging situation in Middle East due to current situation, however thanks to Africa and CIS which is helping us to recover and continue to deliver strong sales results for SANYO," said Takeshi Hirao, (Vice President of Sanyo Electric Co , Japan) and Chairman of , SANYO Gulf FZE said.
As part of its aggressive marketing initiatives in the region, SANYO targets to increase its share in the digital movie camera segment by selling at least 100,000 units which is called Dual cameras to satisfy strong demands in key markets such as the UAE, Saudi, Oman, Jordan and Turkey. SANYO is also harnessing the potential of new markets in the region to help consolidate SANYO's leading status in other key product categories such as rechargeable battery, of which SANYO has major market share globally apart from strong domestic presence in commercial air-conditioners, refrigeration super showcase, biomedical equipment, high-end projectors and absorption chillers among others.
SANYO's businesses are divided into three domains – energy, ecology and electronics –covering a broad range of products and services such as rechargeable batteries including the one for HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle ), photovoltaic systems, HVAC/R equipment, digital imaging devices, personal navigation systems, home appliances, electronic components and others.
