Daawat, a leading brand of basmati rice distributed by Federal Foods in the UAE, provided the zing factor to this year’s Middle East Junior Chef of the Year competition being organized as part of the Dubai Summer Surprises. Daawat organized contests on the sidelines of the Junior Chef Competition, organized in the Oasis Centre mall, to publicize the event and also provide UAE residents with some useful culinary tips.
The Middle East Junior Chef of the Year is a recognition and celebration of the region’s leading culinary talent. Over 1000 chefs from leading hotels across the GCC participated in the event. With over 22 categories and separate competitions, the jury is formed of Master Chefs from around the world. During the event, the multinational Chefs battled against each other to showcase their finest preparations and amazed the judges with their skill and expertise.
Visitors to the Oasis Centre watched cooking demonstrations, workshops and competitions all throughout the day. Some of the visual delights included ice carving, chocolate carving, and pastry showcase, in addition to a new category of Mocktails.
The competition for five course gourmet menu category and the new Arabic cuisine category were sponsored by Daawat.

Daawat organised a quiz event on the sidelines of the Middle East Junior Chef of the Year competition in the Oasis Center mall. A similar event was also conducted on Cool 94.7 FM. The winners of the quiz were invited to an exclusive screening of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
