Blue Coat Ranked Worldwide Market Leader in WAN Optimization

Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BCSI), the technology leader in Application Delivery Networking, today announced that a new report from IDC, a leading market research and advisory firm, ranks Blue Coat the leader in worldwide market share for WAN Application Delivery for the first quarter of calendar year 2009. According to the recently issued IDC report, “Worldwide WAN Application Delivery 2008 and 1Q09 Vendor Shares," ¹ Blue Coat was the market leader for the first quarter of 2009 and was second in market share for the full calendar year of 2008. For the first quarter of 2009, IDC reports Blue Coat in the number one position with 29.5% market share on $67.4 million in revenue.

This leadership results from a differentiated value proposition for the distributed enterprise," said Lucinda Borovick, vice president of data center networks, IDC. "Blue Coat is delivering on its strategy to include visibility as a key principle of its Application Delivery Network infrastructure."
