Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Visits Dubai School of Government to Review Progress of the Foundations Scholarship Programme Beneficiaries
|
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation today announced a senior management delegation met with the recipients of its scholarship programme for postgraduate studies in Public Administration (MPA) at the Dubai School of Government.
The delegation, which aimed to review the progress achieved by the 30 beneficiaries, was led by Sultan Lootah, Vice-President, Entrepreneurship and Employment Sector. Dr. Tarik Yousef, Dean of the Dubai School of Government, received the Foundation officials at the campus.
The one-year Master’s programme in Public Administration at the Dubai School of Government prepares students for high-level positions in the government, quasi-government, and the non-profit sectors.
The programme aims to train students in modern theory and techniques of public sector management. It also helps them better understand the political and social context in which public policies are designed and implemented, and public services provided. While a large segment of the students come from the public sector, deserving candidates from the private sector are also enrolled into the programme.
Close coordination with the Harvard Kennedy School’s Faculty Advisory Committee ensures that the Dubai School of Government’s Public Policy programme complies with the highest standards of quality.
Sultan Lootah said: “We are proud that the students remain inspired to make a positive contribution to the community. With their newly acquired perspectives and fresh skills, these students are set to play a major role as ‘future-shapers’ with their ability to resolve real life problems in the Arab World.
“The progress these students have registered so far in their academic performance has been impressive and we are confident their contribution will make a significant impact in the Arab world.”
Amal Alsharhan, an MPA student from UAE said:” The MPA program at the prestigious Dubai School of Government is supported by faculty of the highest credentials with extensive professional experience in their respective fields. My experience in the program so far has been very positive and it is giving me a global perspective in issues that are relevant to modern-day governance. The program is also giving me a better understanding of challenges facing our Arab region. DSG is teaching us how to think outside the box and look at complicated issues using critical analytical skills. DSG, with its entire staff and top-notch tools that are being used to conduct this challenging program, has supported and encouraged me during my entire studies. I hope that I will be able to fulfill my duties and become an effective and successful employee serving our visionary government leadership”.
Dr. Tarik Yousef, Dean, Dubai School of Government, said: “We are extremely pleased with the progress of the students and feel honoured that the Foundation continues to support them in their pursuit of knowledge. We at the Dubai School of Government believe that competent leadership is critical for good governance and have established the MPA programme to serve this vision. The leaders of the public sector who are being educated at the Dubai School of Government will help shape the future of the Arab world.”
Founded in 2005 in cooperation with the Harvard Kennedy School, Dubai School of Government currently hosts 25 research fellows and associates with different specializations such as public administration and governance, gender and public policy, economic development, youth inclusion, operations management, community development, and e-government.
