REHAB 2010 Scheduled Next March and Devotes a Recruitment Pavilion for Special Needs Youth

Index Conferences and Exhibitions Organisation Ext. – member of INDEX Holding and the Dubai Club for Special Sports announced today the launch of the 7th edition of the Dubai International Rehabilitation Forum and Exhibition – (REHAB Dubai 2010), which will be held from the 15th – 17th of March 2010 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid AL Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minster of Finance.

The announcement came at a press conference held today at the headquarter of the Dubai Club for Special Sports, presided by Mr. Hamad Bel Jafla, Asst. Executive Manager of Dubai Club for Special Sports and Mr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, President of INDEX Holding.

Rehab 2010 endeavours to help and support the disabled so that they integrate in the society by providing them with best education and employment opportunities, in addition to highlighting the role they can play in their Societies through creating partnerships between societies and non-profit organizations, supporting and financing these associations, considering the social, physicological and physical rehabilitation of the disabled individuals, and many other related topics.

During the press conference, Mr. Hamad Bel Jafla, Asst. Executive Manager of Dubai Club for Special Sports said “REHAB gained its reputation during the past six editions as the most prominent rehabilitation forum in the region. REHAB focuses on areas with common interest for disabled individuals, provides them with the support they need, grants them the opportunities to develop and helps them to integrate in their societies”.

Mr.Bel Jafla revealed that REHAB 2010 is to be held under the motto “Partnership from Theory to Practice’. He added that the conference will bring together world’s key specialists in the field of disability and rehabilitation to discuss the latest developments and updates in this particular field, specially focussing on inclusion which is considered a major objective and challenge.

REHAB 2010 is expected to achieve enormous results as continuity for the 2008 forum. In addition, it will highlight the value of the disabled individuals in the society and the active role they can play. He also mentioned that this category deserves our attention and asked all national and international organisations to strengthen their efforts towards facilitating their integration in the society, Continued Mr. Bel Jafla.

Bel Jafla also stated “REHAB 2010 will focus on studying the different disorders affecting the disabled individuals and many other related issues.” He also stressed on involving this category in society, and mentioned that they can be effective individuals.

On the other hand, Abdul Salam AL Madani, president of INDEX Holding stated that REHAB 2010 is the largest platform in the Arab World that includes number of workshops in which a large number of specialist doctors, nurses, educational and social workers and physical therapists are involved.

He continued “REHAB also gives the opportunity for parents of disabled children to speak up and share their experiences with the specialists and the public”.

AL Madani announced the topics to be discussed during the REHAB 2010 forum, including;
 



  • Rights of persons with disability.

  • An enabled disabled.

  • Alternative Medicine for Rehabilitation.

  • Psychological Supports for the people with special needs.

  • Treatment Modalities & assistive technologies (latest researches).

  • Employment of people with special needs.

  • Education- Inclusion.

  • Sports Rehabilitation.

  • Challenges/ The way forward.

  • Aging and Disability



He also emphasised the prominent success achieved by REHAB forum during the past six editions, which reflected positively on the disabled and their families, through raising the national, regional and international awareness of their needs.

A specialised exhibition will run in parallel with the REHAB 2010 scientific conference, where more than 150 special needs associations, therapy centres, sport clubs, institutions, companies offering medical solutions, academic software, rehabilitation equipment as well as universities and rehab schools, are gathering under one roof to contribute to this special three day gathering.

REHAB 2010 forum raised the profile of disability not only in the UAE, but at regional and international levels, through offering stimulating and relevant educational courses in schools and universities; and through unifying the rehabilitation services provided and establishing proper infrastructure facilities for the disabled, and attracting the attention of the media towards this special category and their needs.
