Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), one of the pioneering media organizations and creative services group in the Middle East, today announced it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with China’s Qingdao Television Station (QTV) as part of its strategy to adopt best practices and latest technology, as well as development of quality programming.

The MOU was signed by He Jingjun, Vice Director-General of Qingdao Television Station, and Faisal Abdulla, CEO for Corporate and Support in DMI, at the DMI Headquarters in Dubai.

Lv Zhenyu, Executive Vice-President Director-General of Qingdao Municipal Propaganda Department; Wei Shengji, Vice Director-General of Qingdao Municipal News Office; Lu Hong, Director-General of Qingdao Broadcast and Television Bureau; Ren Zhi Jie, and Vice Director of Qingdao Television News Channel; and Dhaen Shaheen the executive director and Editor in Chief of Al Bayan printing and publishing, were present on the occasion.

DMI team took the Qingdao delegation on a tour of the DMI News Centre at Dubai Media City and offered a glimpse of the state-of the-art Studio-F, at the DMI Headquarters.

The MOU mandates exchange of media experience and providing of logistical assistance to visiting crews from each other’s organisations. It also includes exchange of television programmes in news coverage, culture, arts, science, and sports, in addition to cooperation in programme production.

QTV and DMI will also exchange information on broadcasting equipment, techniques, and facilities, as well as sharing best practices on various aspects including news, technology, digitization, high definition, IT and media applications. Other areas include knowledge sharing in the form of training for TV production and creative concepts such as promotion and graphics, new media, and setting up of new businesses including television and radio channels.

The latest agreement with QTV comes as part of DMI’s strategy to continue motivating employees and developing their professional and creative capabilities while helping them enhance their performance and skills.

Faisal Abdulla said: “We are proud of our partnership with Qingdao TV, and are looking forward to more such alliances in the future. The MoU is in line with DMI’s endeavour to partner with prominent media counterparts and leading international organizations to provide exposure to DMI professionals in state-of-the-art equipment and techniques. Exchanging knowledge on new media and production services will be of mutual benefit to both companies; this is a drive for growth and improvement. It is also in line with our mission in reflecting Dubai’s image to the world, and our focus on innovation and quality. ”

Founded on 15 September 1971, Qingdao Television Station (QTV) is one of the earliest urban broadcasting stations in China. It employs more than 1,000 workers and staff members and operates six channels on news, lifestyle, series, movies, entertainment and sports, as well as public service, with more than 110 hours broadcast every day.

At present, Qingdao TV utilises the most advanced equipment in China to gather information, edit materials and broadcast programmes. It has also implemented digitalization of its broadcasting studio for production and post-production operations, and began broadcasting high definition TV programmes in 2001. QTV has also signed agreements previously with several countries, including Russia, Japan, Korea and Australia.

He Jingjun said: “Together with DMI we will have a great future and will create a great team. It is very impressive what DMI has done with the New Center. Our future plans/objectives are in line with those of DMI.”

As an established leader in the media sector, DMI constantly seeks exchange of experience with other globally prominent media organizations for the overall benefit of the community and to facilitate the development of the fast-growing regional media industry.
