Government Communications Office launches new Communication Strategy at interactive workshop for 150 federal government communicators

The UAE Government Communication Office in the Ministry Of Cabinet Affairs launched the Federal Government's new communication strategy at a workshop for communications professionals from all major Ministries and Entities.
The workshop was attended by 150 communications directors and managers from federal government agencies. Discussions focused on effective media planning, including the publication and distribution of editorial manuals and media guidelines, and on activating internal and external communication channels.
H.E. Najla Al Awar, Secretary General of the Cabinet, highlighted the importance of this workshop, saying, “This workshop has been organized to respond to changes in the media environment that have a direct impact on government communications. The UAE leadership strongly believes in the importance of developing a comprehensive internal and external communications strategy that will support federal government strategies and improve performance levels within government communications teams.
“The workshop outlined strategic issues, such as the importance of establishing a balance between developing an integrated communications strategy to deliver the federal government’s key messages, and building government communication skills, and the role of communication in supporting the government decision-making process,” She added
“What is unique about this government communications strategy is that it highlights the best practices in dealing with priority media issues that demand urgent attention and guides government agencies to interact with the media in a with flexibility and transparency. This approach, we believe, will enhance communications with our audiences”.
Her Excellency the General Secretary of the Cabinet stressed that government communications around the world have changed, becoming an important strategic tool in the decision-making process. ”This is why the federal government aims to enhance the strategic role of government communications through these workshops”.
Participants discussed the federal government communications strategy and its important initiatives and activities, they were also provided with the Government Communication Manual highlights the UAE government communication strategy and Media Guide. The Government Communications Office published the manuals to support the federal government communication teams in understanding and implementing the strategy.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has previously approved the federal government communications strategy prepared by Government Communications Office. The strategy aims to build a comprehensive communications system across all federal government organizations and agencies.
