- Foreign Trade between Dubai and Germany reach AED28.2B in 2008
Dubai Export Development Corporation (EDC) showcased the latest developments and achievements in the UAE’s food and beverage (F&B) industry at Germany’s Anuga 2009, world's most important food and beverage trade fair.
According to the Dubai World Statistics Department, the foreign trade between Dubai and Germany has reached approximately AED28.2 billion in 2008. Meanwhile, Dubai exports to Germany have increased by over 37.7% as compared to 2007.
EDC highlighted the Dubai Pavilion with five UAE companies namely Positive Packaging United M.E. FZCO, Al-Nassma Chocolate LLC, Shama Food Industries, Gulf & Safa Dairies Co. LLC and Alokozay International Ltd. at Anuga 2009 from 10-14 October 2009. The EDC stand explored further export opportunities for Dubai’s F&B sector in the European markets.
Additionally, the Dubai exhibitors were able to take advantage of the presence of an expected 160,000 trade show visitors from throughout the world as well as approximately 6,000 exhibiting companies from around 100 countries representing the international food industry. At EDC’s Dubai Pavilion, exhibitors and visitors networked and discussed business opportunities.
Anuga 2009 was a unique exhibition where 10 specialised trade shows are conducted under one roof. The exhibition provided an excellent opportunity for EDC companies to present the latest in the UAE’s food industry as well as promoted Dubai’s export capabilities.
Participating at Anuga 2009 was a strategic decision for EDC, as this specialised exhibition served as a perfect platform for EDC and UAE companies to showcase their F&B products across the European market and to major F&B companies worldwide. During the exhibition, Dubai and German firms discussed possible business partnerships. EDC hoped that this opportunity is able to cement future business deals for Dubai-based F&B companies as well.
Anuga 2009 covered the entire globally available range of food and beverage products – for an efficient and quick overview of the latest developments on the global market. Anuga’s 10 specialised trade shows are Anuga Fine Food, Anuga Drinks, Anuga Chilled Food, Anuga Meat, Anuga Frozen Food, Anuga Diary, Anuga Bread & Bakery/Hot Beverages, Anuga Organic, Anuga Catering Technology and Anuga Retail Technology. Each trade show at Anuga showcased specific profile and product range making it possible for the show to bring together supply and demand in a targeted manner.
