Dubai Womens College Students Learn Important Leadership Skills at Women in Leadership Forum
|
Under the patronage of HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Women in Leadership Forum laid a platform for students and graduates of Dubai Women’s College (DWC) to enhance their skills and learn more about leadership.
The Women in Leadership Forum endeavored to empower women leaders from business and politics to set trends, innovate, strategize, and influence strategic decisions to make a difference in a woman's role during these tough times.
“It is very important to support such events to celebrate the success of women leaders,” said Dr. Monica Gallant, DWC Business Chair. “These women are role models for the youth in this country, all of whom are on the path to become the leaders of tomorrow.”
The Forum aimed at providing business networking, knowledge sharing and meeting opportunities to a high-profile and dazzling list of potential attendees. These included leading politicians, global business leaders, policy makers; women business leaders, key decision makers, industry visionaries, thought leaders and entrepreneurs.
Zahra Jaffar Ali, a Year 3 Marketing student and Vice-President of DWC Student Parliament commented, “One of the most interesting lessons I learned at the conference is that while it is important to have a vision, what is more important is to learn how to communicate your vision to those around you.”
Accounting student, Lubna Mahmoud, found the conference to be very inspiring. “The Women in Leadership conference provided us with the opportunity to hear so many success stories from global business women and allowed us to exchange experiences that will inspire women to contribute to leadership as well as promote networking and entrepreneurship,” she commented.
The DWC group had the opportunity to engage and interact with up to 300 world renowned business women and leaders through round table discussions, presentations and workshops. “The Forum increased students and graduates’ understanding of successful women’s participation in the global business arena,” concluded Rabia Bekhazi, Acting Supervisor at CAREERS, Dubai Women’s College.
DWC is a pioneer in empowering women to become global leaders and it’s the first academic institution to win the Dubai Quality Appreciation Award in 2006.
