ROCK CULTURE: Inspiration behind LOreal Professionnels new Colour Collection
|
- Hair colours for Autumn – Winter 2009/2010 influenced by the latest worldwide trend of Rock culture.
From early beginnings in the 50’s, until today, Rock music has been sharing the limelight with fashion, dance, and change… It lives in many aspects of our everyday life. Rock n roll is a philosophy, a way of thinking. It’s about style and attitude.
Once every six months, L’Oreal Professionnel’s hair color collections echo the latest trends in the world of fashion. Every season’s collection is inspired by what’s paraded on catwalks, in movie theaters, literature etc. However this season tops it all. The new autumn-winter color collection embraces a culture that has turned ordinary men and women into semi-gods. Long live rock and roll!
Rock Culture’s effect has been seen on the catwalks of Gucci, Cavalli, Balmain etc… Even the adverts of Givenchy and Louis Vuitton had the same theme. It was also evident in Hollywood’s latest releases such as Twilight and the Underworld.
Nowhere else was this rock culture more at home than in the 3 new rock looks created using L’Oreal Professionnel’s new hair colour collection.
In the first look AMY wore a style that was inspired by the hairdo of the sultry, long hair star Amy Winehouse. The volume on the crown has been backcombed and held in place by 2 pins. The front section and the sides have been styled with the fingers and tucked away behind the ears. A few strands have been deliberately left free on the shoulders to keep the look of long hair.
To keep the style light and lively, slight layering was done along the lengths. And to blend the look into today’s fashion Amy wore the rock “uniform” - a T-shirt and raw denim studded gilet set off by a cat’s eyes look.
BILLIE opted for the more exaggerated ‘short cut’ rock look inspired by the sampling music genre of the 1980’s and the hairstyle worn by Brain Setzer from Stray Cats.
Using the parting at the crown, enough length has been left to obtain a stylishly tousled effect. The highlights provide energy, modernity and style. As for the styling it’s reminiscent of the stage glitter while the makeup emphasizes kohl for a razor sharp gaze.
The mid-length bobbed cuts from the 70s make a come back on DEBBIE. On the crown, the hair has been wound on Velcro rollers to achieve the volume. A side parting on the front section creates the movement. The hair cut is short at the nape of the neck revealing the neck and shoulders. This look is created on a bob slightly layered at the sides and the crown of the head and offset by a black leather close-fitting blouson.
