Land Rover recently sponsored Mountain High’s Women Inca challenge in the quest to raise awareness for osteoporosis and its associated risks.
Starting from Cusco, the majestic capital of the Inca Empire, Peru, the challenge ran from the 16th October – 31st October 2009; the team comprised 16 participants, including four of the original Bones in Motion team members from the Jordan challenge back in 2004, and two Emirati women. The team hiked the demanding Inca trial over three days to Machu Pichu, spent two days hiking in the jungle and had a day of mountain biking, white water rafting & horse riding.
“It was fantastic to have Land Rover’s support yet again, this time to raise awareness for healthy bones and adopting a healthier lifestyle. The team was also thrilled to be a part of this adventurous challenge to mark World Osteoporosis Day,” said Julie Lewis, Founder and Managing Director of Mountain High, a Dubai based company that encourages people to take charge of their health by being more active in the great outdoors and taking time out with nature.
“At Land Rover, we are committed to bringing about positive change in the community that we operate in; and proud to support Mountain High’s drive to educate and encourage women to focus more on their health and be aware of the risk factors”, said Robin Colgan, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover, Middle East and North Africa.
Land Rover offers an exclusive range of products which are luxurious, technologically advanced and have best in class breath of capability, both on- and off-road. The model line up comprises of The Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, LR4,LR2 andDefender.
The support for Mountain High’s activities is part of Land Rover’s ongoing commitment to encourage people to explore the outdoors and to spread the messages of health and adventure by stepping outside of their everyday limits for a good cause.
