Dispensing their words of wisdom, the Arabian Gulf’s most famous grannies are to make a special guest appearance at the Mother, Baby and Child Show in Dubai next month.
 
Characters from the hit animated series Freej - will be delighting visitors to the show at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre from 4-6 December 2009.
 
The Freej characters are the latest to announce participation in the region’s premier event for the baby and child industry. Barney will also perform live each day educating and entertaining with interactive music, song and dance routines
 
“Freej, watched by millions of families in the Middle East, has grown into an international phenomenon on and off-screen,” said show director Shannon Norris. “Freej has captivated audiences of all ages across many nationalities as these sweet Emirati ladies tackle the problems of modern day life in their simple way and we are delighted to welcome them to the Mother, Baby and Child Show.”
 
With a birth rate in excess of 20% a year, the Middle East is booming for the baby and child industry and the Mother, Baby and Child Show is this year celebrating its sixth birthday. There are over one million births each year in the Gulf Co-operation Council countries of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabian and the UAE. In addition, 26 % of the population is under 10 years of age and 11.5% under five.
 
The show, which expects more than 25,000 visitors, provides a forum for global and local brands, retailers and manufacturers to sell and promote their products. The event also provides the opportunity for companies to respond to the needs of the region’s unique multicultural audience.
The show this year includes a new sale area with festive bargains including up to 80% off Crocs merchandise and up to 50% off Barbie, Hot wheels and Power Rangers products.
 
There will also be competitions for visitors with prizes including tickets to Bangalore from Kingfisher Airline, Ski Dubai passes, Wild Wadi tickets, watches from Ladybird, Crayola gift sets, DVDs and Barney merchandise. Entry prices have also been reduced to AED25 for adults and AED10 for children.
 
Gold sponsors of the Mother, Baby and Child Show are Peidasure and Dac. Silver sponsors are Sudocrem and Vtech.
