Tetra Pak Arabia and Dubai Bone and Joint Center successfully raise awareness for Osteoporosis through school seminars
|
Dubai - Dubai Bone and Joint Center (DBAJ), the leading regional Musculoskeletal Center based in Dubai Healthcare City along with Tetra Pak Arabia, the world’s largest food processing and packaging company, recently concluded a series of successful seminars on osteoporosis understanding among school children in Dubai, UAE.
The seminars aimed at raising awareness about the importance of milk consumption for maintaining a healthy bone development. The first session was held at Dubai Autism Centre and was addressed to the parents of the autistic children.
Each session was facilitated by Dr. Shah Khan, a renowned Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon at Dubai Bone and Joint Center, who captivated the audience through a variety of interactive games and lectures, focusing on topics of interest in Osteoporosis and utilization of milk. After the seminars, gifts were distributed amongst the children.
“There has been a slow rise of osteoporosis even in the paediatric population particularly adolescents. The causes for the same are varied. DBAJ is committed to provide holistic bone health to children in the region. Besides dealing with osteoporosis related morbidity, we also aim to provide advice on bone health and nutrition to prevent Osteoporosis and its sequelae” stated Dr. Shah Khan.
Martin Fejk, Marketing Director, Tetra Pak Arabia, said: “We are pleased to join hands with the DBAJ in creating awareness on a healthy lifestyle among school children. Programmes like these are in line with our motto ‘PROTECTS WHAT’S GOOD’ and create the right platform for us to educate our youngsters on making healthy food choices.”
Osteoporosis is a condition in which the density and quality of bone is reduced. Dairy calcium-enriched foods such as milk and milk products, exercise and Vitamin D are crucial in building up bone mass during childhood.
Tetra Pak has always played an active role in raising awareness about the importance of milk consumption by organizing fun-filled activities for children and parents in the UAE, like the recently successful World Milk Days in the UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Bahrain and Yemen.
