JET AIRWAYS CELEBRATES CHILDRENS DAY WITH FLIGHT OF FANTASY
|
Mumbai - Jet Airways, India’s premier airline, today celebrated Children’s Day with an hour long Flight of Fantasy for underprivileged and special children, as part of its annual tradition. Nearly 100 children had the unique once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the “joy of flying” onboard Jet Airways Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft on the hour long flight operated in support of non-governmental organisations (NGO’s) - MAGIC BUS, ASEEMA, Development Education Empowerment of the Disadvantaged in Society (DEEDs) and Muktangan.
The Flight of Fantasy, an initiative started by Jet Airways in 1997 opens up the world of aviation to underprivileged and special children. Like every year corporate partners such as GE Volunteers turned up in full force in support of this noble cause. Refreshments at the lounge courtesy Oberoi Flight Services, added to the spirit. Colour-coded blue and yellow balloons and streamers were festooned in the party area.
The flight 9W 8169 took off from the domestic terminal of the Chhatrapathi Shivaji International Airport and returned after an hour long flight, flying over the west coast to touch down at Mumbai at 16.30 hours.
The children assembled at the domestic terminal prior to the flight and were entertained with music, dance, a variety of games with prizes galore, and a special PowerPoint presentation on aviation informed our young guests on the workings of an airplane. There were special invitees from the world of entertainment and films that made their day even more magical.
On this occasion, Mr. Nikos Kardassis, Chief Executive Officer, Jet Airways said, “It is indeed a privilege for us to work with these notable NGOs and their wards. It is most gratifying is to see smiles lighting up the little faces as the children look forward to an experience in the skies. Children’s Day is one such occasion for the young ones to cherish this memorable Flight of Fantasy.”
In another welcome move, senior Jet Airways cabin crew on board the Flight of Fantasy also volunteered to participate onboard this unique flight on their day off. The event also saw corporates come together to make the day memorable for the children. Refreshments served on board were courtesy Taj SATS and fuel for the flight was courtesy India Oil Corporation. Route Navigation and Landing charges were waived off by MIAL.
Adding to the joy of our little guests, specially created gift wrapped hampers were given to each child on arriving off the flight, giving them an opportunity to take home happy memories to cherish.
