  • PowerGlaz from Romag and Hypm Fuel Cell from Hydrogenics awarded GAIA for excellence in reducing impacts on environment

Dubai- Gulf International Trading Group (GITG), a leader in the trading of high-quality, eco-friendly construction materials in the Middle East, has announced that two of its world-class products have grabbed GAIA awards for this year’s Big 5 Exhibition that kicked off yesterday. The ceremony which was held in World Trade Centre hosted a variety of innovators, distributors and successful businessmen who were awarded for the excellence of the products they bring to the region. HE Khalid Al Midfa, CEO and Chairman of GITG received the awards which were given to Romag’s PowerGlaz (Finalist award) and Hydrogenics’ Hypm Fuel Cell (Bronze award).

Commenting on the award, Mr. Khalid Al Midfa, CEO and Chairman of Gulf International Trading Group, said: “Starting the exhibition with two GAIA awards is the perfect kickoff for GITG and is another proof of the message that we are eager to convey to the region to stress on the usage of renewable energy and environmentally friendly materials.

At the exhibition, GITG is featuring several of the most cutting-edge products from five of its top international trade partners. These include the companies Romag, AluFlam, Hydrogenics Corporation, Vetrotech Saint-Gobain, and Stalprofil AB. An exhibition manual is provided to visitors in which they can find information on who to contact for services, how to maximize their exposure at the event, the rules and regulations of exhibiting and much more. The GITG exhibition will be located in Hall 11, stand number 11A147.

Romag is a UK-based manufacturer of glass products serving global architectural, security, and renewable-energy markets. The company produces a range of composite materials, including laminated photovoltaic solar panels and bullet-resistant siding. Gulf International Trading Group developed a strategic partnership with Romag to address the growing demand for security and renewable energy solutions in the Middle East. Through this partnership, Romag has granted Gulf International Trading Group sole distribution rights for the Gulf region.
Hydrogenics has over 60 years of experience designing, manufacturing, building and installing industrial and commercial hydrogen systems around the globe. The company offers leading expertise for a range of applications, including: hydrogen generators for industrial processes and fueling stations; hydrogen fuel cells for

electric vehicles; and hydrogen storage and power systems for optimizing solar and wind systems. Through Hydrogenics’ partnership with Gulf International Trading Group, supplies of hydrogen fuel cells and onsite-generator technologies will be offered for the first time ever in the GCC region. Hydrogenics Corporation’s headquarters are in Mississauga, Canada, with additional facilities operating in countries around the world.

After a hugely successful debut in 2008, the Gaia Awards were hosted for the second year. Products and services showcased at this year’s Big 5 exhibition that reduce the impact on the environment were eligible for the awards. The awards were designed to raise the profile of green or environmentally sound building products and services in the GCC region, reflecting the desire to ‘build green’ and to enable visitors at The Big 5 exhibition to easily locate and evaluate these products on the exhibition floor. The judging panel was assembled with the support of ecospecifier International and featured senior experts from local developers, contractors and government, each of whom applied strict selection criteria to decide on the medal winner.
