menatelecom Celebrates the First Anniversary of its WiMAX Success

Due to the overwhelming accomplishment of subscriber numbers, menatelecom, on its anniversary, is looking at expanding its network way ahead of plans and has increased coverage by 50% from launch of November 2008.
 
menatelecom, an investment subsidiary of Kuwait Finance House-Bahrain, and the first company in the world to launch a nationwide WiMAX (Wireless Broadband and Telephony network) using WiMAX 802.16e technology, has marked its first year anniversary of the launch of its WiMAX service with the announcement that it has passed all the expectations in terms of number of subscribers and growth in the demand for the new service.
 
Mr. Abdul Razak Jawahery, Executive Manager Kuwait Finance House - Bahrain (KFH), representing KFH as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of menatelecom, notes that menatelecom’s achievements during this year underlines its commitment to challenge the Bahrain broadband scene through its state of the art technology as well as consumer and business high-speed wireless broadband packages.
 
menatelecom is also playing an active role in catering to the insatiable demand for high-speed broadband in Bahrain. Elaborating, Mr. Jawahery says, “We are one year into our mission to provide broadband technology that reaches out to everyone in Bahrain. As one of the forerunners in the world for WiMAX commercial deployment, we’re very proud of what we’ve achieved today from ground zero. Furthermore, we have witnessed the price of internet in Bahrain fall dramatically since menatelecom has entered the market".

Mr. Jawahery continues, “menatelecom’s WiMAX service has broken boundaries by offering the highest internet speeds available in the Kingdom of Bahrain, coupled with a high-grade telephony service that utilizes the new 77xxxxxx number range. All this while offering the full freedom and mobility that WiMAX 802.16e has been designed for.”
 
menatelecom has recently expanded the number of its outlets to cover the Bahrain World Trade Center, Bahrain Financial Harbour, GOSI Mall, Country Mall - Budaiya, Muharraq, Isa Town and KFH Automall in Sitra with more on the way.
 
The outlets are fully equipped with the latest mobile phones and active WiMAX user stations where customers can test the latest subscriber packages offered by menatelecom.
