Thousands crowd Global Village for holiday fun

Global Village, a member of Tatweer, received thousands of visitors during the first weekend of its 14^th annual edition. Park goers were provided with holiday treats as Global Village created a 10-day long fun fair in celebration of Eid Al Adha and the upcoming UAE National Day. The festivities that started on Thursday, November 26, will last until Saturday, December 5.
 
Guests witnessed Middle Eastern customs with the presence of tents and the Arabic majlis that hosted traditional cooking, henna design, display of fine and heritage arts, and ceramics. Guests wore the traditional kandoora and abaya for photo opportunities and classical Youla and Liwa performers performed to a delighted crowd.
 
Visitors took a shopping galore around the new layout of the largest outdoor souk in the region. With almost 45 cultures in over 30 pavilions, shoppers were offered a selection of various products from various parts of the world. Attention grabbing performances included the Art of Fire by the lake, the Human Cannonball Show in front of the Sri Lanka Pavilion, the burgeoning artists’ platform in the Community Stage, and a lot more. A special fireworks display added to a fun weekend for visitors. Global Village will run until February 27, 2010.
