|
Dubai - Dubai Quality Group (DQG) and the Ministry of Public Works held today a seminar entitled "Basic Modernizations for the "European Foundation for Quality Management" (EFQM) and its Impact" at the ministry's headquarters in Dubai.
European Foundation for Quality Management has amended the EFQM framework and recently launched EFQM 2010. Business Excellence frameworks in UAE like Dubai Quality Award, Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award are based on EFQM model.
Mr. Sunil Thawani, Chairman of the Continual Improvement Subgroup, DQG, lectured at the seminar in the presence of many representatives of the companies and organizations from public and private sectors. He explained what are new changes in the EFQM 2010 model and its impact on the organizations, Assessors and community per se.
Mr. Thawani said: "The newly launched EFQM 2010 framework is an improvement over the existing framework and it should help further improve the performance of organizations. The new model focuses on future sustainability of organizations and incorporates current emerging requirements of Governance, Ethics, Business Continuity, and Sustainability.
"The model retains its core 8 principles of excellence and the set of nine criteria. Assessors will need to look at organizations results with a new perspective with a focus on future rather than only evaluating the past performance". Added Mr. Thawani
For his part, H.E. Dr. Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Ministry of Public Works, said: "We, in the ministry, observe to follow the newest and the most modern techniques in the field of organizational excellence in order to achieve the best results at the level of the administrative processes of the ministry and to ensure the provision of the best services to our customers. In turn, we believe in the need to implement the new modernizations of the EFQM because of its ability to improve the business' environment and to develop organization's human resources and administrative performance effectively and accurately. "
He added: "We look forward through sponsoring and hosting this event to play a greater role in the development of the UAE business community and support all initiatives that would raise the level of performance of the governmental and private organizations in order to achieve sustainable development in business world. Furthermore, we will implement shared-vision joint projects with Dubai Quality Group".
The ministry has played an important role since its inception to the achievement of the cultural renaissance of the country through the efforts and use of all the available means to provide stability, security and a decent life for all citizens and residents. Moreover, it contributed to the building and the achievement of this renaissance through the implementation of infrastructure projects according to the highest standards of quality and luxury.
The Ministry is working on the planning, designing and implementing federal buildings projects such as schools, clinics, mosques, markets, social centers, branches of government departments and other public buildings.
Dubai Quality Group frequently organizes such knowledge sharing opportunities for the business community, in line with its goal to promote quality and excellence in the business community.
