Arab Women Leadership Outlook Report Launch represents a Pioneering Exercise in Exploring Female Leadership in the Arab World
|
- Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum: “The AWLO is one of the most comprehensive perception studies undertaken within the region on the opinions, perceptions and recommendations of Arab women leaders.”
Dubai – Dubai Women Establishment announces the launch of the Arab Women Leadership Outlook Report, the first of its kind in the region, a seminal work that seeks to give voice to women leaders in the Arab world. The report leverages the experiences of women who have effectively reached positions of influence in the region, and looks into factors that advance and challenge the development and progress of women leaders in the Arab world.
The strength of the report lies in the honest views and experiences of over 94 Arab women from 14 countries, drawn from diverse sectors – government, political, legal, social, economic, cultural, religious and educational – that present a true depiction of the Arab professional sphere and the position of women leaders within it.
“The AWLO is one of the most comprehensive perception studies undertaken within the region on the opinions, perceptions and recommendations of Arab women leaders. In accordance with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that recognises women as a driving force behind a country’s advancement in every sphere, DWE commissioned this report to identify the obstacles that hinder aspiring Arab women from reaching leadership positions, as well as explore the environment that promotes them. ” says President of DWE HH Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, wife of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
“Dubai Women Establishment (DWE) aims to play a pioneering role in promoting the position of women leaders within the community and nurture a competent generation of future women leaders by establishing the right infrastructure and platforms to ensure and sustain the success of their endeavours, it is hoped that the AWLO can be instrumental in promoting successful regional models that can be emulated to the advantage of young Arab women looking to pursue similar paths in the future,” adds HH Sheikha Manal.
Research and analysis on the AWLO report was conducted in partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers who developed a rigorous methodology for the study and assured high standards of objectivity and integrity in the undertaking of this exercise. In addition to the results of the quantitative and qualitative survey, a significant amount of international and regional research was used to conceptualise and contextualise the issues and to set them in a general framework – primarily focusing on how Arab women leaders define themselves; identifying qualities possessed by Arab women leaders; and studying environmental factors that have a bearing on their success.
