Abu Dhabi - A major criteria for the selection of any phone is battery life, because this determines the length of talk time as well as how often the phone has to be recharged. This is more so for satellite phones as users are based outdoors or in remote locations and depend on outdoor phone reliability. Similarly, users of satellite phones may find themselves in an emergency situation requiring sufficient length of talk time to make instant calls.
The Thuraya XT satellite phone which recently entered the market, has an unprecedented battery life. The handheld device, which is seen as the world’s toughest satellite phone, is the only device of its kind that has a talk time of up to 6 hours and a standby time of up to 80 hours, outperforming any other available satellite phone in the market. Through the extended battery life of Thuraya XT, customers are ensured of a reliable service from a rugged phone laden with advanced features. Incidentally, having a long-lasting battery does not in any way affect the weight of the phone that is 193 grams which is considerably light for the efficient battery life that it provides.
“A lot of effort was exerted in ensuring the reliability of Thuraya XT. The phone was custom made to provide the highest industry standards and this is evident in the battery life of the phone,” said Mr. Alexander Lachner, Thuraya’s Product Manager Voice Services.
He also elaborated that Thuraya XT was specifically made to meet the needs of the market after diligent research and tests were carried out.
“We know what satellite phone customers need and accordingly we raised the bar when it came to the battery life of the phone. Many satellite phone customers spend large periods of time in the field and thus need a strong battery life on their phone and this is what Thuraya XT provides,” Mr. Lachner added.
He also mentioned that the phone has been designed with an internal brightness sensor so that its menu is easily readable in bright outdoor environments. This feature also contributes to the battery lifetime by reducing backlight in the dark when only low light is required.
Thuraya XT is the world’s toughest satellite phone because it can withstand the harshest of environments as it is the only satellite phone that complies with IP54/IK03 standards. This makes the phone splash water resistant, dust and shock proof. The phone, however, is a balance of ruggedness and professionalism, as demonstrated by its user-friendly menu which supports several advanced phone features.
Users of Thuraya XT can browse the internet and access email from a connected lap top. It has an in-built GPS feature which is vital for waypoint navigation or in emergency situations.
The launch of Thuraya XT reaffirms the Company’s leading position in mobile satellite handhelds. Since its launch there has been overwhelming demand for the innovative phone from service providers.
