MINI enters a new frontier: The MINI Beachcomber Concept
|
Once again, MINI the small car that knows no creative or physical boundaries has proved itself by entering into a new driving dimension. In just a few short weeks a brand new type of vehicle from MINI will be proudly presented at the North American International Auto Show (16–24 January 2010) in Detroit.
This incarnation, coined as the MINI Beachcomber Concept is a four seater vehicle designed for maximum driving pleasure, inclusive of all enhanced options of a new MINI, while also combining the vision of a radically open body concept.
ALL4, the new all wheel drive system from MINI has been incorporated, making this concept ideal for spontaneous and active driving delivering a highly emotional driving experience for all involved. Conventional doors and roof have been removed, including all other body elements which might possibly limit the intensity of the occupants’ encounter with their surrounding world.
This concept vehicle symbolises the basic values of the brand in a new, radical style – and at the same time continues the current development of the MINI range in a particularly striking manner.
Within just ten years after the re-launch of the brand, this fourth generation model of MINI is set to make its debut. The MINI Beachcomber concept offers a fascinating re-interpretation of style that is typical to MINI, while its heritage can be traced back for enthusiasts from the 1964 Mini Moke edition. The Mini Moke was a robust vehicle with drivetrain technology carried over from the classic Mini. This fun four-seater became a great success particularly in the sunny and rough terrains of the USA and Australia.
The MINI Beachcomber Concept now projects the principle of the Mini Moke into the 21st century. The rustic appearance of this concept car and its minimalistic approach clearly follow the tradition of the radically open Mini Moke back in the 1960s.
It goes without saying that this new model meets all modern demands in terms of space and comfort, efficiency and safety, while retaining its clear focus on driving pleasure in direct contact with the surroundings.
The MINI Beachcomber concept is clear proof that unconventional creativity still serves today to open up the door to brand-new vehicle concepts bound to offer even more fascinating renditions of that unique feeling so characteristic of MINI.
