- Rashid Amiri: Dubai Sports’ leadership contributed to strengthening the sports ties between the two countries
Dubai - Dubai Sports, the prime sports channel of Dubai Media Incorporated announced the kick-off of the UAE - Germany Super Cup, to be held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, on 5
th January 2010 , at the Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain club.
The announcement came at a press conference attended by: Mohammed bin Tha’aloub al-Dar'ei, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Honorary Member of Ain Board, Dr. Tariq Al Tayer, Chairman of the Association of Football Professionals, Yusuf Abdullah, Secretary General of the Federation of UAE football and Rashid Amiri, Manager Dubai Sports Channel, as well as Holger Horinemus Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the German Association, and Klaus Alufs, CEO of Werder Bremen club. The second session of the conference was attended by: Jorge Valdivia, captain of the Al Ain team, Thorstein Frings, captain of the German team, along with Thomas Schaaf, coach of the German team, Cirrus, coach of Al Ain team, and an audience of journalists and correspondents from the local and international media.
At the press conference held at Park Hyatt Dubai, Rashed Al Amiri, Director of Dubai Sports said: “It is a great opportunity for football fans to follow this competition which will bring together Al Ain team, the champion of His Highness the President’s Cup and Werder Bremen team, where will contribute to strengthening relations of cooperation between the UAE and German teams in the future and help in providing teams with the opportunity to come into contact with the UAE league champions and Bundesliga top teams (German league) on an annual basis, at a time when Dubai is successfully hosting training camps for some of the world's major teams.
Amiri pointed out the distinct role of the Dubai Sports Channel in helping to establish and organize this game in coordination with the UAE Football Association, the Union of the United Arab Emirates Football Association,DFL DeutscheFussballLing Gmbh ( German Professional League Association) and the management officials of Werder Bremen team, at a time when Dubai Sports is the leading broadcaster of the Bundesliga (the German League), for which it has won exclusive broadcasting rights, providing opportunities for exchange visits between the UAE and German football associations.
Holger Horinemus, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the (German League Association), thanked Dubai Sports Channel, an important partner in broadcasting the events and games of the Bundesliga, which attracts many fans, not only from within Germany but all over the world, pointing to the great efforts of the TV Channel in the establishing a special studio dedicated to the Bundesliga for all viewers across the Arab world, pointing out that for over 100 million fans in more than 23 countries, Dubai Sports provides detailed information about the German Bundesliga through various program offerings throughout the week.
Horinemus concluded that the partnership with Dubai Sports, is a genuine partnership with its own specificity transcends a regular business relationship between a franchisor and broadcasting rights winner.
