RTA signs mobility MoU with British University & The Monarch in Dubai
|
Roads & Transport Authority has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the British University in Dubai and The Monarch Hotel in Dubai for three years with the aim of boosting safe and smooth mobility in keeping with RTA vision of providing Safe & Smooth Transport for All.
The MoU was signed by the CEO of Public Transport Agency Eisa Abdul-Rahman Al Dosari on behalf of the RTA, Vice Chancellor of the British University in Dubai Abdullah Al Shamsi on behalf of the British University in Dubai, and the General Manager of The Monarch Dubai Hotel Henning Fries on behalf of The Monarch Dubai Hotel. The Agreement was signed in the presence of senior RTA Public Transport Agency officials including the Director of Planning & Business Development Dep’t Mohammed Abu Baker Al Hashemi, Acting Director of Franchise and Enforcement Dep’t Mansour Al Falasi, and several section managers.
“Signing this mobility management MoU complements similar agreements recently signed with School Transport Services Co. and Millennium Airport Hotel in Dubai, and will be part of further MoUs to be signed in future with broader bases companies through which we are seeking to reassert the principle of mass transit and shun single-car occupancy mobility practice which has adverse effects on all Dubai roads. By signing these MoUs Public Transport Agency is seeking to develop mobility management programs through broadening the relationship with RTA strategic partners in the form of a package of procedures & initiatives aiming at minimizing the number of trips made by private vehicles and promoting the use of more sustainable transport means” said Al Dosari.
He added: “The Agency is always keen on bolstering the strategic partnership relationships with the British University in Dubai and The Monarch Dubai Hotel; a step which is bound to effectively expedite the efforts made to provide mass transit services spanning all age groups and community segments; which at the end of the day will realize our cherished objective of fostering public transport instead of private mobility and easing traffic in all Dubai roads”.
Al Dosari further added: “The MoU comprises five core objectives for which the Agency is aspiring to achieve which include enhancing promotion, raising employee awareness of the importance of mobility programs, furthering sustained transport concept, broadening mobility options on offer to employees from and to the place of work, shunning individual transport, and advocating the drive towards mass transpiration. This will eventually enable us contain and alleviate the rising congestion in the city of Dubai particularly during peak times at the locations adjacent to the workplaces, and provide alternative mobility means for larger numbers of employees in the public and private sectors through the implementation of mobility management programs”.
At the end of the event Al Dosari gave mementos to the Vice Chancellor of the British University in Dubai Abdullah Al Shamsi, and the General Manager of The Monarch Dubai Henning Fries.
